There was an actual interview quote with a scan about it, don't know if anyone has a link easily, but Ghost's cameo in Drive movie got complaints from "voices" (they didn't really specific which group complained, although presumably parental groups) which led to changes of its visual direction from the beginning of the show.

Most of the differences in that 3ds clip make the finisher more "ghostly", like the way the symbols form and the part where they're shown translucid like souls.

This is a VERY important question; What the fuck is Latoratah's combo power? And don't just say that the Tora Can, Ridevendor thing is its power.

It's supposed to be strong heat emission. Note that it dries up part of a river the first time it's used.

HOWEVER, around the middle 10s, that power is completely forgotten, and it just becomes the light emission that can be done by the head by itself. That retcon/writing error really annoyed me at the time because they use "light doesn't affect me!" as an actual plot point to make him lose those medals later.

Outside of Kuuga which juggled writers fairly often, Ghost's main writer is one of the biggest no-shows of the era. Someone did a post comparing all the Heisei writers, and Inoue had the most episodes under his belt, writing the entirety of Faiz and most of Kiva, plus most of Agito and Hibiki and second place to Fukuda was Nakashima who wrote like half of Fourze.

Oh yeah, parental groups have hated Kamen Rider since day one. The extreme violence throughout the show, plus the psychadelic themes of the intro, stirred lots of arguments and protests. There are some that take place during the series (Movie Wars Core, Let's Go Kamen Riders, solo movie) but they all have continuity problems, so you don't even need to bother with them.

The references to them are also very minor - a flashback showing the movie villain and medals is played in the tv show at a certain point, but the events of the movie aren't directly mentioned in any dialogue even in that scene; and cell medals based on Movie War Core's black medals star popping up in the tv show around the debut of the 2nd Rider, but no one even comments on them either. They're just... there.

Kabuto has pretty suits and garbage everything else. Some of the individual episodes are fun, but the story is awful and half of the important characters, including one of the main Riders, just stopped being available partway through. I don't recommend it.

Kuuga is pretty great, but slow. It's more of a police procedural that happens to have a Rider in it.

If you haven't seen W, OOO, Fourze, Gaim, or Drive yet, start in on those. You might even enjoy Wizard if you marathon it.

I loved W. Both it and Kiva were my introduction to Heisei Riders and I finished them around the same time. I've been bouncing between OOO and Fourze with my family when we all have time to watch together.

So I just finished the first five episodes of Kamen Rider Ghost even though /krg/ told me not to. My only KR show before this was Gaim. Here's my blog about it
