The only good thing about this is the option to look more like a normal figure than the other kits.

That is not helping the technology for multi-layer molding at all. The whole thing is getting information and data for molding gunpla parts with more details and parts with different color. They are just using a character's face as the test bed.
Also this is a plastic model, and it is up to the modeler to makes look good their own way.
