I played that demo thing they sent out, it was pretty fun. I actually got some Front Mission vibes while playing it, because you can destroy mechs part by part, so that made me really happy. Can't wait for the actual game.

You mean MW:O? If you're with a bunch of friends, don't care about winning or losing, have a beastly PC, don't care for horrendous graphics and low production values,... Then it's kinda fun once in a while.
Not really a game worth playing for anything more than casual entertainment. It's basically /m/ Candy Crush.

It came out before MWO, it's actually a mod for Crisis. The game shows that you don't have to have good graphics for a fun time. They incorporated weapons that I don't think the MWO engine is really capable of up until now.

And I'm not just making shit up, there have been numerous accounts of industry veterans chiming in on the forums and getting explained by the developers why this or that thing has to look horrendous because at some point this or that guy fucked up and in the endless rush to get something out, the error accumulated enough shit on it that the boss wouldn't let them fix it and redo all that shit properly.

It's a very budget-lacking game all in all.

Run it on Roll20. People have run Warhammer 40k decently on Roll20, so I imagine you could get something going for Mechwarrior/Battletech if you're willing to get that shit going.

No there is better. Download the program Megamek. It is the entire Battletech tabletop game put into a computer program. All units are there, and almost all optional rules can be turned on or left off. All the rules and dice and handled by the program, you just give orders and watch hilarious reports of pilots failing at basic functions and ammo exploding.

Considering how awful a game to play 40k is, never.
GW has all the reasons in the world to shut down any such efforts lest their huge fanbase online realizes investing into the models is not worth it because the game sucks horribly.

It's literal fucking Jenga code. PGI had a few talented contractors left over from their UE3 days after DNF that polished off a minimally viable vertical slice clone of WoT back in 2012. Look at the gameplay footage from GDC 2012. They never again had that fidelity. They removed inverse kinematics and have been using a generic copy paste damage texture instead of the original work they did due to shitty optimization.

It's a reason why they don't have ammo switching. It is lost due to brain drain and slapping more bandaids on top of another. It was stuck in release beta up until late 2015 but they still had a launch party back in 2013.

They have the MechWarrior license hostage and a minimally viable product is enough to keep old men strung along.
