Why do so many of you fuckers love the Turn A? It's one of the most boring looking mecha I've ever seen. Its colors are flat and very sparse and it has no distinctive features apart from that weirdass mustache and its extremely long legs even by Gundam standards. I feel like you all only like it because you're being hipsters who want to say you like a Gundam design, but lel not your usual Gundam that a pleb would like
>>15659880
>it has no distinctive features apart from that weirdass mustache and its extremely long legs
and missile silo torso. And cockpit cock. And the shoulders which swoop right in with the geometry of the chest. And the leg thrusters...
It's not even in my top 10, but pretending it's non-distinct is silly, that's the one thing that's absolutely going for it.
>>15659888
Except that all of those have been done by numerous other designs (if not Gundam designs) and none except the third are an obvious visual highlight when observing a standard still of the Turn A at rest
>>15659880
I know Turn A (the show) is popular on /m/, and I notice people often just pick the lead suits from their favorite series as go-to favorite mecha choices. It could simply be that.
>>15659911
Well mustaches and long legs aren't really unique ether if you want to be that general.
It's the fact that all those elements are present at once.
>>15659921
Well, the only other place I've seen a mustache is arguably Bryger. Feel free to name any other examples you've got
>>15659880
>Why do so many of you fuckers love the Turn A?
Strongest Gundam and best looking. Duh.
>>15659935

>>15659888
This. There is a lot going on with the Turn A that make it very different than most lead Gundams. All the lines work on it in different ways than most Gundams, I love how in a flying pose the lines of the legs line up so well. the same goes for the sweep of the shoulders. And if you hate the mustache, you're a faggot.
I notice a lot of people go to the protagonist mecha and just stop there. Very few of my favorite designs are actually the main mecha, even If I like them. I usually have to dig a bit to find a perfect fit.
>>15659880
You sound like a pleb
>>15659965
It makes sense. Protagonist mecha are usually the ones the designers put the most effort into, if there are even any other mecha in the show at all, anyway. I can't even remember any other mecha in Star Driver apart from Tauburn

A mech need not be visually-convoluted to be appealing to the eyes, /m/8. Some of us here genuinely love the 70's sci-fi artwork aesthetic and appreciate a simplified design.
>>15659880
I bet you just fuckin' love the Strike Freedom, don't you?
>>15660277
I actually think a lot of 70s mecha are busier than people give them credit for, pic related as an example. Anyway there's a few key differences between something like Mazinger Z and Turn A. Both are relatively simplistic, yes. However, what makes Mazinger work pretty well is that it uses somewhat unorthodox colors (particularly the versions that have no blue) and because the key detail it draws your eye to is that big chestplate. Turn A, on the other hand, uses fairly standard colors and the detail that draws attention is the mustache. Now as overused as big emblem chestplates are, it's the weapon Mazinger uses to burn stuff, which automatically makes it cooler than the mustache
>>15660308
He meant 70s sci-fi, not 70s mecha. The type of art Syd Mead draws.

The Turn A is a very minimalistic design, yet has a good level of complexity to it.
It's one of the most well balanced gundam and mecha designs I've seen IMO.
It's not my favorite, but I respect it a lot.
I like way too many mechas to pick one over another so these are just some of my favorites in a sea of many more.
