Long story short, Zanel, Zannel, whatever you'll call him, her, ends up absolutely tearing the shit out of Dark Brain (I think?), who dies(I think?), but not in vain, as he saves us a first phase fight, instead getting right into the bullshit upgraded final boss mode you see here, OR it could be that Dark Brain decided to fuse with Zan instead to make this abomination I don't really know I might be grossly misrepresenting the plot, but whatever. I was INCREDIBLY lucky in this fight, because this motherfucker does not like to play fair.

Anyway, with that fight over, I have finished my playthrough of Great Battle 2, and so now I will move on to the next game by our dear friends at Banpresto.

It's Alpha Gaiden for PS1, and its fully translated. It's pretty good, a little rough in places compared to modern games, but very playable. All of SDF up until the timeskip was handled in Alpha 1. I'm assuming at some point they wanted to fully handle the timeskip given how Macross City was a major set piece, but they didn't have time for the stage to set it up or something, and then Alpha 2 never got to it.

Long shot but -

Would anyone be interested in participating in a collaborative "One SRC stage a person" project?

In other words, all participants does a stage which will introduce 1-3 units from whatever single series of his choice and then hands it over to the next person to continue.

I don't expect a really high participation count but I'm guessing a stage count of around 8-10 would be nice.

I haven't quite hammered out the details such as how the plot would be written given that the more people participating, the less likely it is that everyone has watched every single series that was selected. I also have to figure out whether or not everyone will simultaneously work on their levels at the same time given the way SRW works (which means the people in charge of the later levels have a wider variety of stuff to work with compared to the earlier ones)

But really it's just a bit of an excuse to just try your hand at doing some SRW creation with a very small commitment - after all, it's just 1 stage and some units, right?

So just reply or pop into the Discord if you're interested.

You're fighting the Titans, but their attacks and plans are mostly attempting to take over labs and locations from other series. They aren't directly based on any events from Zeta.

They supposedly had fallen apart and lost ´power in Alpha 1, just had more surviving members than in Zeta itself, and then strike back in the beginning of Alpha Gaiden.

Getter is kind of odd, since in spite of Musashi being alive Alpha 1 basically starts like it's a post-plot show, with the Dinosaur Empire having been defeated already, but then they just come back anyway in later games, somehow with no important members dead. Like the Titans stuff above though, those battles are mostly original (or based on material that isn't from the Getter tv show itself, like the way Musashi's sacrifice happens in Alpha 2).

Maybe they could make a custom scenario of him invading Earth with the Mycenae that were all out in space guarding their AYYlien empire when Zeus and Hades battled, and when both vanished he just said "Well shit. Guess this empire is just my responsibility now."
He then kept an eye on Earth for 2000ish years for signs of his fellow gods until Ashura's sacrifice (didn't investigate things properly for that long because he liked being lone ruler), and chooses to strike when he can team up with the General of Darkness for maximum overwhelming force.

Current plans
1) Sequential - participants have a maximum of a month to submit their stuff. Realistically I think people should take around 2 weeks for their portions but if you just wanna turbo-speed it over the weekend and submit, I'm not stopping you.

Of course you can speed things up by working on things like unit stats even when your turn isn't up.

If you miss the deadline then the next guy on the list will just be shunted up.

2) You can select any series that's remotely considered /m/ on this board so by all means insert Astro Boy or Symphogear if you want, but not like, uh, Fire Emblem or Dragon Quest, I guess.

You can introduce 1-3 new playable characters from your series depending on how much work you're willing to put in. Combiners which start out pre-combined count as 1 unit (Getter would count as 1, SRX would count as 3)

You can create as many enemy types as you want since that doesn't have potential long-term headaches to worry about.

3) You're only required to write a plotline involving the series you selected. You can tie in the previous selections if you want, but it's not required. The old units from previous stages would still be deployed of course but they don't need to talk if you want.

This should cut down on "I haven't watched all the series involved" part

4) You might want to think about whether you want to be earlier or later on the sequential list - the later people have more things to work with but that also means more things to keep track of, of course. If you feel like you want to be a really small starter, you should probably pick an earlier slot.

5) The gameplay system will use GR's formulas/spirits/weapon properties since they're translated into English.

Ethiopia makes some kill secrets easier. Moon route doesn't have anything useful or too interesting on it, but it's your only opportunity to put upgrades or Repair/Resupply Devices on the Hiryu Kai, which makes the stage 15 fight easier.

I don't remember what happens on either half of Aviano/Izu.

Earth Cradle is much better storywise than Moon Cradle. If you take Moon Cradle then you miss out on the ending of about half the plot and get nothing but more Kyosuke in exchange. He doesn't actually resolve the Excellen plot because that comes on the stage right after the split.
