The pilot and engineer Lowe finds a big chunk of super experimental alloy material and being the dumbass that he is decides to make it into a battleship sized katana. Literally just a scaled up version of red frame's regular sword (not just the blade part either, the handle in >>15644961is correctly scaled to the figure next to it). The problem being that when he used it he destroyed one of his gundams arms swining it.

So he built a mech for his mech for the specific purpose of swinging his giant retard weapon. This mech gets destroyed later and they make some big muscley replacement arms for red frame with some new artificial muscle tech or something.
