Getter robo is one of the most influential and well known super robot series of all time, some would say even more so than MSG or Eva, it introduce combining mechs, multi unit teams, robots literally powered by will and fighting spirit, and probably a few other things that are seen in pretty much every (decent) mech anime since. I would argue that the only series that miiight have been more influential to the genre would have been tetsujin 28, but that is going back a bit farther than I am really familiar with.
