Lucky went from being the worst because he nonstop shouted his catch phrase to tolerable because he's started helping the characters he's paired with grow, and the Sun and Moon upgrade he got added to that.
Dragon Dad is fun but gets little screen time.
Naga and Balance are the best characters of the show.
Spada and Hammy are in the show constantly but don't really get time to shine even though you can tell the writing is somewhat trying. Hammy has had slightly more moments to shine than Spada since Spada basically just spews Italian and food at people.
Stinger is constantly brooding and I don't care to watch his thing with Hawktiger at all.
Everyone else may as well be a broom with a name on a piece of paper attached to them outside of their introduction episode.
Madako is a miracle of this universe and we will never have our own octopus girls.

Fighting is all over the place but it's fun to watch, and with the mechs you can tell they're trying to do a Go-Busters thing again which I really appreciate. They're also trying to vary things up by going to different planets than Earth which I also appreciate. Honestly, right now my only problems are Lucky still shouting that painful catchphrase several times an episode (No, the episode explaining the meaning behind it does not help make it more tolerable), how little character the other characters are getting in comparison to Lucky despite there being 10 of them, and I could not care any less about Stinger than I do right now. We also lost hip thrusting which should be a crime.

Put it this way:
Zyuohger felt more engaging and fun to watch. The show isn't bad but it's like a person carrying a bunch of limes in their hands trying not to drop them while going down some steps and then someone bumps into them with every step.

Wait, these guys can get big? I thought they all just got in a spaceship to fight the mechas.

Nah, this seems to vary a lot. Zyuohger bored me, but I've been enjoying Kyuranger. Some people just seemed to love Zyuohger's case for some reason, and that was enough to carry the show.

There's actually a sense of progression with them killing generals and progressing through various goals so far, rather than just defeating random monsters sent by the same lazy commanders through half of the show.

I'm catching up with it now, and it's definitely getting better as it goes. The characterization's a bit poor for a lot of the team, but I can appreciate the fact that the plot actually goes about having the heroes accomplishing goals, which is actually quite rare for Sentai. Even aside from that, establishing early on that there are a set number of villains that they're trying to take out does a lot for making each they take out feel more like they've made some progress, instead of there just being some arbitrary, theoretically infinite number of monsters. They've even let a few survive their first encounter and come back in another, which is very rare.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a pretty sloppy show due mostly to the fact that they're juggling too many characters, but it's also getting a lot better than that bad first impression.

Oh that explains it. I just realized with this ep's mech fight that they've been avoiding the clusterfuck combo and keeping it simple and mobile on top of the lack of new mecha eps. The fights in general have been entertaining and pretty varied. Reminds me of the stuff Toqger pulled.

Yeah, it's definitely getting better as it goes along and there is a sense of progression, my problem is just that they aren't handling some of the characters well and feel like they don't know how. At least Kotaro is getting to do something for a kid character, even though I dislike Stinger's broodiness this is actual character progression for him, Champ went from questioning everything about the Doctor's death to being rebuilt, and Lucky is helping people grow even if he takes up a bit more spotlight than I'd like.

The just need to get their head in gear and work with the characters properly since they already adding yet another character thanks to the Argos soon.

So far I think it's only been Scorpio or Madako while working for him who have created one with that ball and ordered it about - the first one before he turned up was pretty wild IIRC.

This episode has been better than a lot of the previous ones. Lucky actually being heroic and living up to being a proper Red rather than relying on his Lucky gimmick is good. Hammy is still a placeholder for a character with some sort or personality or quirk. At least Spada has cooking. Naga and Balance remain best Kyurangers. Also Olmec died so no more Legends of the Hidden Temple jokes.
