Kiriya really does add a lot of energy to the group. I really don't miss Hiro. A pretty good episode. I still not a fan of the way the show handles the KRC plot, hard to suspend my disbelief for it and feels too small scale. Muteki is kind meh. The scene is well directed and the intro is awesome, but it's powers are not that interesting.

Also, stupid question possibly, but why does reprogramming Pallad mean that Emu lost the powers of M. When M was just left over Buster DNA that Pallad does sometimes influence.

According to the official spec descriptions, Hyper Muteki Gashat gives a layer of golden armor to the user. It has a limited duration because it's too much power and would overcharge the Rider.

When used as the main Gashat though, the armor created has those hair strands to help controlling exhausting the excess energy and control the flow, giving it unlimited duration.

M was Pallad himself, not just a leftover. Whenever Emu became M it was Pallad hijacking his body to have fun beating up other Bugsters. Yes, that includes the times that Emu fought Pallad. Yes, including the time he fought him with Mighty Brothers XX.

When Emu reprogrammed Pallad and accidentally made him part-human, what he was trying to do was rip Pallad out of his body so that he couldn't take control of him anymore. He succeeded in that, but the result was that he lost the skills he had as M because those were Pallad's skills. Emu is still a pretty good gamer even without M by this point, so it didn't hurt him much in his other fights, but to handle Muteki he needed to re-establish their connection.

The other thing to keep in mind is that as he describes it, he wants Chronicle to be nearly impossible to beat, but still actually beatable. I think it boils down to him having really poor chemistry with Emu. Not even in an antagonistic sense (Kuroto gets a lot of mileage as both "hero" and villain by virtue of having tried to ruin Emu's life so hard), there's just no real spark between them when they interact and their relationship hasn't been built on all that much over the course of the show which is something it sorely needed to be if Hiiro was to be a potent secondary as it would have had to compete with all the other relationships that popped up past the second episode.
