At what age did you grow out of Gundam?

Never

When Try aired I started to care less, G-Reco could have been better (nowhere near as nonsensical as Anime Suki deludes into thinking it is), and IBO is literally worst entry. Did like Thunderbolt though.

I got into Gundam when i was 21. I'm currently 22. I don't really care for gunpla though.

Bf was more than that, they were openly accepting what gundam was about, the gunpla.
It was a celebration of everything that had been made up until that point.
No gundam is any more blatant a toy commercial, in fact I'd argue that the fact that GBF is upfront about it helps, because there is no juxtaposition between wanting to write a drama about war and having to sell colorful mecha.

I'd go so far as to say that GBF is in many ways a parody of the Gundam franchise. Especially when you look at characters like Ral and Yuuki, it's hard not to come to that conclusion. Ramba Ral was already a meme before and then GBF made the man into a goddamn legend. Having Yuuki play as a wholesome Char figure was fucking great too.

Some of the fights were pretty good too, and they snuck a lot of great references.

I only watched GBF recently because I thought the entire concept was stupid, but now that I've seen it and understand how it celebrates (and occasionally makes fun of) Gundam and the subcultures surrounding it, I loved it.

I actually despised it as a kid/teen but grew into it when I was 22 a few years ago.

The age at which I got into it puts me at odds with a lot of fans though, because I hold no nostalgia for shows like G Gundam which in my opinion are really lacklustre fluff.

Turn A the best.

Not sure If I ever did, but watching Twilight Axis was very disillusioning.
