The funny thing is, we just had a better story about robots and humanity, and it actually is a game and not a David Cage piece of crap
>>
I am so fucking sick of robots as an allegory for slavery and oppression.

no buy

Do you fight the personification of the internet with your ancient incan super-powers in this one too?
>>
>>15634529
Looks like a poor man's Deus Ex. Probably won't be bad, at least.
>>
>>15634655
It can't be helped. AI/Android "slavery" is basically a freebie for a writer. It's the default idea. People will be rehashing this idea for decades, so you better buckle up.

I thought this looked cool last year when it looked like it was about a robot negotiator. I don't like "robots are people too" stories.

Whenever the best friends talk about the stupid AI monster from Indigo Prophecy, I always lose it.

WELCOME
IN DETROIT

>not a release to Japan first

Confirmed for trash
>>
>>15634969
Why do you want the nips to suffer?
>>
>>15634980
That's my point. If it's released in America first then it means the Japanese don't want anything to do with it. It's going to be a dumb allegory for American politics.
>Do you like hearing people whine about Donald Trump on the news all day?

Reminder that "Cage" is a pseudonym and that, for no comprehensible reason, David Cage insists on using the French pronunciation despite "Cage" being a noun and not a name in French.

Welcome to Detroit; a post-dystropic robot shithole.

Better than any Detroit you have may ever visited or heard of.

>AI/Android "slavery" is basically a freebie for a writer. It's the default idea.
Let's give Asimov a little credit here. It's not like the theme invented itself, and before him, robots were just happy lil helpers. Shit, so were blacks back then too. Actual slavery was too taboo to write about in those days.
>>
>>15635055
See that's the fucked-up thing: writing about oppressed robots used to be a safer way to write about blacks and workers being disrespected and oppressed, but now that it's commonly accepted that they shouldn't be oppressed, writers can't write about humanlike robots anymore without re-treading those tired old themes because of the vague bullshit implication that if you don't respect machines, you don't respect people. And in order to retroactively justify using those themes, they write robots as sentient characters, and force all sorts of behavior patterns onto them that don't make sense, just to be sure that they don't come off as racist if someone else happens to interpret robots as crypto-blacks.

Things have come full circle and it's really stupid and pointless.
>>
>>15635055
>It's not like the theme invented itself
The theme comes with the territory. If not Asimov or whoever did it first, somebody else would have, and then everybody else would have followed. The concept of slavery exists, and the personification of objects exists, in addition to the humanization of humanoid robots. It would have happened regardless, because it follows.

I'll give Asimov credit for having the idea at the time he had it. He was arguably well ahead of the curve. It still follows though, and eventually everybody was going to have that idea.
>>
>>15635081
>but now that it's commonly accepted that (blacks/workers) shouldn't be oppressed
>blacks
Yeah, we thought that finally happened in 1860s, 1960s, 1990s, and then in the 2010s, but we've been wrong everytime. City people don't see it as much, so it doesn't exist to them, but whenever a national discussion happens, bigots are always there.
>workers
It really depends on the country. And how good they are at covering it up. More recently, workers are getting treated shitty like it was the 70s again.
>>
>>15634529
I'll wait for the YouTube port
>>
The first trailer for this looked so cool. I thought maybe I was gonna finally legitimately enjoy a David Cage game.
Then the trailer this year at E3... they tried to increase the scope of everything and now it just seems to impersonal to connect with.

>>

Maybe if robot didn't mean slave in its origin we wouldn't do it.
>>
>>15635226
Maybe if David Cage made actual games then I would play them
>>
>>15635241
maybe
but that's neither a decent justification nor a sufficient explanation
>>
>>15635256
>that's neither a decent justification nor a sufficient explanation
I genuinely can't think of a better justification or explanation than it being the literal definition of the word. That seems to be just about the best you can get. That's not even a pun at this point, that's just what the word is.

Go back to /v/, shitheads.
>>
>>15635287
Hi David
>>
>>15635234
Go to /pol/ or /b/ and tell them it's "commonly accepted" that it's wrong to enslave or mistreat blacks and prove yourself wrong. It's not as common as you'd like to believe.
>>
>>15635334
>/pol/
Are not so stupid as to think they hold the majority opinion anywhere. And for that matter, most of them also think it's wrong to enslave or mistreat blacks. They may not want to live in the same country as blacks, but they also probably wouldn't commit violence against them for no reason despite all the ironic race war memers

>/b/
is just a board of 12 year olds posting porn. I doubt they have a coherent opinion on anything
>>
>>15635287

They're less of games than even VNs are, and I consider VNs to be games.
>>
>>15635351
>majority opinion
commonly accepted =/= universally agreed, you dumb mong.
>>
>>15635359

You should probably go to Reddit or GAF because those are the only places I can think of that would do that.

>Hating David Cage
But anon, he makes some of the funniest shit available on game consoles these days. Who else would bring us Ellen Page crying about boys while touring the Middle East?
>>
>>15634809
How have they been doing? I haven't watched their stuff in over a year but I want them to succeed since they seem like nice guys, even if Matt kinda bothers me at this point and Woolie knows jack shit about mecha. All I know is Liam left because of anxiety and Pat has been streaming a lot especially with his girlfriend, and they have a great dynamic together from a video I saw. Sage for being off topic.
>>
>>15634529
Your life is bad.
>>
>>15637016
They did 2 ("real" and "super") mecha weeks a few months back, too bad that's about that regarding mecha games, maybe except that short playthrough of Titanfall 2 Pat did a while after that. He still has to do Xenogears of Front Mission 3 one (especially that Woolie seemed to be really into the latter, so it could probably work out somehow).

Overally, they seem to be doing fine, I guess.

So I went ahead and tried to find the playlist for that and it says

How the fuck did that happen? Has it really been 2 fucking years? What the fuck is going on, I thought it was only a few months? Is time so really fucking convoluted that it even affects our own timeline? What the fuck is going on?

What
