While watching a playthrough of Persona 3 FES, I was very surprised to see that a Persona had the name "Apsalus".
Do we know the origin of every MS's name? Or are some still mysterious?
The Elmeth was supposed to be "Hermes".

"Iris" would have fit a lot better, I feel...

Hermes makes perfect sense if you look at Japanese pronunciation though.

Where in life did it all go so wrong, Anon?

Not him but what's wrong with FES?
>An Apsara (also spelled as Apsarasa) is a female spirit of the clouds and waters in Hindu and Buddhist mythology.

There you go friendo

Nothing, what is wrong is watching a playthrough, let alone one of an RPG, and one like Persona to top it all off.
>>15633238
He's probably wondering why someone would watch a playthrough of a game that just about any computer can emulate. Or maybe because Persona is boring as hell and he's wondering why someone would bother watching someone else play it?

Jam it up hymens lol

I'm pretty sure Qubeley is supposed to Cybele, an Ancient Anatolian Goddess.
Not an MS but
A Bao A Qu

You'd be surprised the kind of stuff that ends up in japanese media. For example, if you've ever played Breath of Fire II (a SNES RPG), you probably remember the term "Nikanoru" which refers to dead beings. Actually it's "Nicanor", which is the name the Death in the book El Otoño del Patriarca (by Gabriel Garcia Márquez) uses to call people who are going to die.
> Nemo is Latin for "no one."
That's pretty cold.
Not exactly an MS, but what about Bruvictor from SRW BX? I heard this name comes from Celtic myths, but I can't find any connection.

His name comes from Lugh's spear Brionac, and Falsaber comes from Lia Fáil, the stone on which Irish kings were crowned (which is why they insist on writing his name as "Failsaber" even though that just makes everybody who speaks english laugh)
The BX plot about "four treasures" is all about that

Supposedly the Japanese HQ told the USA branch on the name of the upcoming car through a phone.
It's supposedly named Stallion to make the name in line of mustang and the like.
But due to thick Japanese accented English in the phone, misunderstanding happen and...

My point was that Iris (female) would have been a better mascot than Hermes (male) for the machine piloted by Lalah (female).

I liked Stardust Memory's fauna-themed names.

>Hermes is considered a god of transitions and boundaries. He is described as quick and cunning, moving freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine. He is also portrayed as an emissary and messenger of the gods
This fits Lalah a lot better than Iris.
>>15635268
>Iris is associated with communication, messages, the rainbow and new endeavors. This personification of a rainbow was once described as being a link to the heavens and earth.
>Though Iris was principally associated with communication and messages, she was also believed to aid in the fulfillment of humans' prayers, either by fulfilling them herself or by bringing them to the attention of other deities.

God, do I wish that were the case. My PC runs P4, Raidou, and Nocturne just dandy, but P3FES is like watching my computer get wasted but still try to play video games for me.

You could skip all grinding and dungeon crawling bullshit this way, and it's a godsend considering JRPG battles tend to be weak attempts at padding.

Does this make The-O Fat Debisama Oberon or Smol Nocturne Oberon?

P2 Duology only for the characters and the story.
P1 was eh and I do appreciate most of P5's soundtrack.
