Just finished this...
>Realistic (for mecha) romance subplot
>Goon of a main character who's only real personality trait is that he hats carrots and loves being indecisive
>Really cool one off villain who deserved way more screen time(Kelley)
> two really cool gundams and a dumb dumb(03 i'm looking at you)
>A villain I legitimately wanted to succeed(probably because he had actual motives and development)
So yea /m/ help me decompress. What did you like about Stardust? What did you hate? Call me a newfag?

>What did you like about Stardust?
The bits without second half's Nina.
>What did you hate?
The bits with second half's Nina.
Kou and Gato's radio banter at the beginning was great. I wouldn't have minded if the whole show was like that, although I suppose the overall plot was too serious for that to keep up.
>>15623807
Nina was kind of aggravating towards the end. I will say I get why'd you choose Gato over Kou. The scene where kou puss's out of asking her out was a rare moment where I liked her character.
Srsly, jumping into battlefields and stealing core fighters as a civilian is dumb dumb
>>15623788
how can one girl be so fucking worst
>>15623788
read Rebellion. Its pacing is a whole lot better than the OVA. Character development is fleshed out more.
>>15623788
Physalis is certainly up there in my top favorite mobile suits. Wish it had a more recent gunpla.
>>15623788
Well, yeah, Nina is a realistic female character.
Why do you think /m/ hates her?
>>15623788
> A villain I legitimately wanted to succeed(probably because he had actual motives and development)
I can only assume this is referring to Gato, leaving me rather confused since he has no development and while he has motive, he doesn't have much character. Even in Rebellion he's basically just a walking stick up the ass with no character to speak of beyond 'muh honor'.
>>15624487
This. Gato has literally no character aside from spouting off Zeon slogans every five minutes. He's the epitome of a one-dimensional character. What's his motivation or reason for fighting? Why does he have such a hard-on for Gihren Zabi? At least with say Char you can understand why he does what he does. Even Ghinias got that bit of backstory about his mother to explain why he's a bit fucked in the head. Gato? Why bother developing his character when we can get yet another grandiose monologue about 'MUH NOBLE ZEON IDEALS!'
>>15623788
>and a dumb dumb (03 i'm looking at you)
Shittiest taste I've ever seen, and we're on a board with peoplr who like 00, 8th Team, and G.
>>15623807
>>15623944
>N-nina!
Thank you, I only enter Stardust thread so I can laugh at sheltered weaboos like you.
>>15623788
>What did you like about Stardust?
- No newtype BS
- No underage autistic children piloting expensive military equipment
- Good mecha designs
- Relatively small scope of an OVA story instead of some grand 50ep drag
- Delicious late-'80s/'90s anime style
>What did you hate?
- Most of the characters were underdeveloped (especially Cima)
- The love story poorly handled and not even necessary
- It's an interquel which means it's story doesn't matter that much in greater continuity
>Call me a newfag?
Not today, but you should stop fishing for (OP)s.
>>15624439
Don't forget Gato doesn't job 30 seconds in.
>>15623788
>Realistic
Stopped reading here.
>>15624439
>Arming Unit 2 with nuclear weaponry? Are you trying to turn my Gundam into a weapon of mass destruction?
Wasn't Nina the one who designed GP02? And the one that loaded it with the warhead before it was stolen? Did she really not know what it was for when she was making it?
How is this "better character development?"
>>15624439
>read Rebellion
N-no, thanks... I'm fine...
>>15626433
Maybe there's some BS now about how the MLRS version was Nina's original intention, but I had no idea.
Is Kou the worst Gundam protagonist? I haven't seen every series, but he's the worst from the ones I have.
>>15626569
Wait a minute, why is Physalis holding the shield in the "unlock" position?
What does this mean?
>>15626620
Unlock? what do you mean?
>>15626574
He's a pretty solid middle, I'd say. He matures in the standard Gundam fashion, but at least he doesn't shout philosophical truisms at his enemies too much (at least, I don't remember him doing so). His moments of angst are brief. If Nina hadn't been such a fucking worst girl, I think may people would consider Kou to be largely successful as a protagonist and would put him a little ways under Seabook in terms of "not being painful to watch".
As it is, Kou's story in 0083 is the story of a pilot slowly gaining confidence in his own abilities, then failing in the end anyway. It's an okay story, but I'm glad it wasn't longer.

The handle is turned to a vertical position to unlock the bazooka barrel from the shield:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjaZe3lPF8
It's the same on the MG.
>>15626448
That looks amazing but are those funnels?
>>15626574
He's a low level, min-maxed pilot character. With shitty luck, wisdom and charisma stats.
>>15624558
I know right. Nina is an extremely realistic woman .
>>15626695
No idea, but for that particular machine, whether the handle is rotated or not doesn't mean very much. When it has the MLRS backpack, it doesn't carry a bazooka in the shield.
>>15623788
Did you see the extended ending?
>>15626707
When the handle is vertical it means that the brace that holds the bazooka barrel in place is unlocked regardless of whether the barrel is present or not.
>>15624801
Came here to say this
Except the prequel thing.
FUCK RECYCLING
>>15627349
>>15624487
Gato is a paper thin villain.
Cima is 1000000x better.
>>15629376
Cima is fairly paper thin in the actual animation too, and most of history and motivation is from side material.
