It's a massive shame that there's not a localized version for us. I bet it would be popular here and would probably generate more interest in the Gundam franchise again. How hard could it be to make English assets for the game?

true. The worst thing is even without the Gundam label there's almost no competition for this game. I mean, the closest you can get when people talk about massive, 50v50 shooters would be Planetside 2, and that's about it. Then add the amount of customization which in this case hundreds of mobile suits to choose from if you ignore the horrific balance.

Not sure about your problem, but an old issue of mine is that the game refused to run (launcher minimizes, nothing else happened) whenever I had an explorer window pointing to cheatengine folder open. Try checking your other running programs/tasks such as NetLimiter or things that the game might consider suspicious (though as pointed by my incident it could be anything), see if closing them down helps.

If the knockdown system existed before the change to Z and ZZ I could maybe appreciate it, but in the game's current state it's just infuriating.

I know a lot of people hated the whole Kampfer/NT-1/GLA meta where you would get knocked down constantly, but I didn't mind all of that. Honestly though, I question the need for a knockdown system at all at this point.

I wouldn't say that. You could do pretty well for yourself in low-cost units as long as you had the skill. It was only when the GLA was introduced that things started to get really fucked, unless you were a god-tier shot with a charged beam rifle. Knockdowns just made it easier to score kills overall. During that time period we could still tell players that they could use their favorite suits, and most times it would be acceptable as long as you weren't shit or being murdered by latency.

Though back in those days we wouldn't have dreamed of mobile suits that could tank two sturmfausts and then beat you to death.

That's kind of a hard one. Because the GP gacha still exists on the Taiwan server, you'll probably want to spend your early money on a mixture of upgrades for whatever suits you manage to get your hands on that you like using or are powerful (so all 5 of them in this meta. Thanks devs) and the rest on 10-rolls on the GP gacha.

If you're conscious about being one of the worst scoring players on the team, pack an engineer to pad your score. Beyond that, in this meta it's really hard to say. Seems like your best bet is to stick to sniping and blowing things up with heavy suits until you can get something far more capable.

Wish I could be more optimistic, but I'm not sure what else I can offer here.

I just started going on PVP after the tutorial today, and had like 5 battles of around 50vs50 players around an hour ago.

The truth is that I don't play games a lot and I found this one to have so many things to touch that it overwhelms me. I went into battle with 1 GM, a couple of Zaku II and a rental Schuzrum Dias that I got while playing before being able to PVP and I was horribly raped by almost everyone I encountered. I did manage to kill a couple of people and never ended as THE lowest scoring player, but the large amount of units in the field, specially the overpowered ones makes me really confused as to how should I perform. Eventually, I started keeping myself at a distance from the frontlines and started shooting enemies at random in case I could land a hit by pure luck. Maybe I'll try engineers or snipers on my next battle to see if they help me get a hang of the course of a battle without feeling so lost.

Just to be aware, what are the units considered meta as of the ZZ era?

Current meta seem to be to get the ZZ and spam a constant barrage of missiles with fuckhuge explosions that murder just about everything, or to use equally overpowered beam weapons to instantly kill you. Other fun thing people do is grab The O, strip it down to melee and a shield module, and then melee dash through enemies until you're dead (which is to say, after you've killed about 10 people.)

Beyond that it's really hard for me to say, since I stopped playing before the current state of this game came to be. This is just what I've observed thus far.

Eh. Most games have balancing cycles like this. Introduce new game-breaking shit, fix/break things, repeat. MSGO has mostly gotten increasingly more fucked over time. People whining about Alex/Kampfer meta and GLA/Charged sniper meta was fucking nothing in retrospect.

Back then though, we could collectively talk down the whiners by reminding them that you can still have fun playing the game as a player of average skill. Now? Good fucking luck. Never in the history of MSGO has brutally murdering people without them having a hope or prayer been this easy. The O is also the greatest offender of melee charges in the game. People bitched relentlessly when Efreets and Pixies were a thing. They hadn't seen shit yet.
