What do you guys think of Victory Gundam? I'm only at episode 10 but so far it doesn't seem to be doing much. Usually 10 episodes in a good amount of the world would have been established, but it feels like nothing has happened. Maybe it's because I've been taking breaks between groups of episodes but i'm not sure. The mech designs are great though, I wish BESPA suits had more kits.
I haven't watched it myself but the MC's haircut looks like shit.
Can it be viewed without having completed the OG trilogy + CCA?
>>15615356
Probably, it's late UC so it shouldn't impact it much.
>>15615346
Everybody dies except for Uso, Marbet, Shakti and Katejina
>>15615346
I watched it at between 2.5x and 4x, which made it bearable. The space fight tactics were better than usual for Gundam, but Uso was fucking painful to watch. Give me F91 any day.
>>15615400
>Uso was fucking painful to watch
Shit taste.
>>15615406
Pic related was exactly why he was such an obnoxious little twerp. It seemed like the only thing he did onscreen was complain about fighting, kill people, and then complain about it. At least Amuro and Kamille kept their angst to bearable levels. The bit where he talks to the widow was worse than watching Beecha and Mondo.
>>15615363
>Marbet
That's all I needed to know.
>>15615460
Marbet is truly the best girl.
Shit tier series for ironic Tomino fans
>>15615346
Victory is my favorite top 3 gundam just watch itThe Zanscare final solution is more fucked up than Gihren plan and the means to do it was even fucked up than the bugs in F91
>>15615346
>I'm only at episode 10 but so far it doesn't seem to be doing much.
Because League Militarie work as a distraction for the Feds to mobilize and given that early LM only have one capable pilot with one victory gundam and a 60 year old obsolete cruiser.later on with Shrike Team joining they have a resemble of fighting force and even that still powerless against the motorad fleet that will invading Earth soon
>>15615670
It's funny how by the middle of the series it can feel like it's the Feddies that aren't doing much
>>15615680
>Feddies that aren't doing much
Busy amassing their fleet on Space
On ep 40 so far.
Unironically on my top 3 Gundam series. I generally like all the characters a lot except Shakti who might actually be retarded. I hated how V2 looked but now it's one of my favorite UC suits.
Question; is the Zanscare Empire's philosophy essentially radical feminism?
I'm around 13, like one of the fempilots died already. I was afraid of a little kid super pilot making it ZZ all over again but I was nicely surprised when they kept remarking that child soldiers is a fucked up thing to have. At some point Shakti and her ptsd became a bit too much.
Going through Gundam in production order I have to say this was pretty good in terms of setting, characters and fights. But I get super mad at the idea of beam rotors, it's HS physics...

>But I get super mad at the idea of beam rotors, it's HS physics
>giant robot anime
Just wait until you get to the part with the battleships on wheels.
>>15616511
With most things it's just "minosky particles" and I'm dandy. But you need mass to lift an helicopter and it keeps triggering me. It's like the beam whips in SW extended universe.
>>15616523
It's literally the same shit as a minovsky drive, just lower power requirements because spinning it does... something. I'm not sure what but I'm sure angled spinning plasma does something to air that results in thrust.
It's one of the worst things I've ever seen.
It's a good show but a lot of its choices in plot very clearly came from Tomino being upset and wanting to break his toys rather than what will tell a good story. Tomino himself has commented on this. It's arguable that Victory is the entire reason Turn A came to exist, as a refutation of it.
>>15616571
Explain further.
>>15616607
For one thing the Dark History, while being a reference to all Gundam, seems kind of specific in reference to Victory, since it's essentially the ending of the Universal century and ends on what's frankly a horrendously dark note where civilization seems to be pulling itself apart. Then there's Gym and his faction reveling in the sort of senseless slaughter that Victory engaged in constantly.
It's kind of a 180 for Tomino to take, going from the grim and pointless violence of Victory to the relatively bright and constructive themes of Turn A.
>>15615356
Honestly, I'd recommend MSVG as an entry point to UC.
Not gonna say it's necessarily a better entry than 0079, but perhaps a better entry for Tomino Gundam.
If I was watching UC for the first time, I'd do:
Victory->0079 (either)->Zeta->ZZ->CCA->F91->0083->December Sky
That's all.
Benefit of Victory is you get a sort of "greatest hits" of story beats from the previous iterations, but it's removed enough it won't really spoil anything for you. If you like it (and I think it's an easy show to like), then you've got the encouragement to go back and watch the "prequels", but unlike most prequel stories, it's designed from the ground up so you don't have all these inconsistencies/head scratchers.
0083 and Thunderbolt are just there for animation porn.
Anyone got the image of Duker Iq monologueing about the power of the wheel and how it makes him unstoppable? Can't find it.
>>15616410
>is the Zanscare Empire's philosophy essentially radical feminism?
Yes, And I love it.
>>15617467
The ever changing screencap.
>>15617467
>>15616410
Shakti's not retarded, she's just 11.
>>15617602
She is kinda retarded.
>>15617606
In the way that most 11 year olds are. Kids are dumb.
>>15617608
I get it, to an extent, but she's like exceptionally stupid, and this a show with the Shrikes.
>>15617611
She starts getting ptsd autism in episode 11
She's just broken.
>>15615346
Victory is a very small scale Gundam series.
The scope of the story isn't meant to go beyond a certain point and really just focused on the develoent of Uso and his relationships with others.
>>15615437
He's the youngest fucking pilot in the UC series, at least he shows more progress and maturity earlier the the other two. He also keeps this shit to himself unlike the earlier pilots who complain to everybody.
>>15616441
This. One of the many problems I had with ZZ is that no one had a problem with Judua or his friends being pilots. Nobody questioned it. In MSG, everyone was surprised at how young Amuro was and in Z, Kamille is at least only a year before 18 so it was somewhat acceptable for him to fight. V does a good job of showing how the good guys thought badly of themselves for relying on Uso so much.
>>15616441
>>15616511
>>15616523
>>15616527
>Anons don't realize JUST HOW GOOD of a trick spinning is
>>15617608
>surely abandoning my comrades and running to the enemy to beg them to stop will work this time!
>let's forget the two other times i've done this and just caused problems for everyone!
no, she's retarded
>>15619483
The parts where Uso was retarded enough to believe that Katejina suddenly felt like defecting were also pretty bothersome
