Pretty much, Getter has shown that even as Shin it can absorb machinery and even people. Getter also has a will of its own that expands to bring the will of the universe itself, so I'm pretty sure all Lagann would accomplish is being absorbed by Getter.

Basically what I think the original poster to use such a comparison (Pilder is best Mazinger) was saying is that Lagann isn't strong at all. It can make other robots stronger, but it's not powerful on it's own. The pilder comparison was a good one.

Lagann can overwhelm and control units thousands of times it's own mass, it can completely change their form, their appearance and their armaments and it can survive for centuries buried underground with no apparent loss in function. That alone makes it powerful. The fact it's not tied to a specific machine or series of machines like Mazinger's Pilder but can interact with almost any system in setting also makes the comparison invalid. The fact it appears to be able to freely augment and amplify itself even without other robots or units, as it does with TTGL/STTGL is almost unnecessary.
