Great.
Where the fuck is my Knight of Gold?
Oh shit, I mispelled Blue Knhight in the OP!
These are model kits huh?
They look nice.
How are existing VOTOMs model kits? Are WAVE ones good? They released a Red Shoulder (Chirico's TV AT) recently.

I put together the 1/35 Berserga DT yesterday and it was comparable to Kotobukiya and Plum mecha models but not quite Bandai quality. Its got enough stickers to make it passable without paint but I didnt feel like putting them on yet. Definitely an excellent VOTOMS snapfit model, though. I decided to relocate the hip skirt hinge from the torso to the thighs. The way the hinge is designed made it easy to just drill a whole in the side of the thigh part and plug it in there. Im going to put together the VOLKS 1/35 Gray Berserga this week.
Glorydog (from the choose-your-own-adventure book pictured below it)
>>15608741
Left- normal hip skirt hinge placement, right- relocated hinge.
>>15608741
So how are the hip skirts when they're on the torso? Do they affect pose-ability compared to relocating them to the thighs?
>>15610887
It looks wierd when you turn the thighs and the skirts dont move with them.
Super Execusion is next.

Those are the covers of the 1997 reprints of the Blue Knight novels.

And that's about it. But is kind of funny, I have of this but I know jack shit about the Blue Knight story. Someone knows what it is about?
>>15614549
OP here- from what I recall of Tim Eldred's VOTOMS Viewer's Guide, Kain McDougal tries to avenge the death of Quentman friend at the hands of Chris Katz (pilot of Shadow Flare) by piloting his AT, Blue Knight. I believe he is defeated in the first novel and comes back with Blue Knight BTS II Super Execusion in the second novel. In the third novel, a bad guy named Lorinser has cloned Kain McDougal, and the clones are called K' (K dash- also the name of the novel). These are just brain-in-a-jar clones used to pilot experimental ATs called Warrior-1 which are defeated by Kain in the Zerverus (Calamitydog Blue Version). In the fourth novel, Lorinser resurrects an ancient alien weapon called Rectioneter. Kain loses a hand and a part of a leg for some reason then pilots Testarossa to defeat Rectioneter. I believe Wiseman was guiding Lorinser somehow.
>>15614605
Many thanks, OP.

Here's the coverage of BKB from the Eldred one's viewers guide. Let me know if you need a copy.
>>15615105
>>15614605
This reads like some donut steel fanfic and betrays the nature of AT's being disposable.
>>15615105
I have physical copies of the books. My standing offer is to loan them out to any soul bold enough to endeavor to scry the contents within.
>>15615105
>>15615114
Thanks! In storage, I've actually got a copy made by Tim Eldred himself back when he was soliciting it in anime magazines. On another computer, I've got the pdf from the first DVD set. I haven't read these synopsis in over 15 years and I'm surprised I got it so close!
>>15615111
I've heard criticism that the AT designs themselves aren't simple or industrial enough compared to the concept in the original VOTOMS, but I don't care, I love Kazumi Fujita and Hiroyuki Hataike's art and I think all of Blue Knight's concepts and variations are great.
>>15615111
And for what it's worth, the initial volumes focus on The Battling which is custom AT arena combat, so it makes sense that the ATs would be unique and advanced.
>>15614530
>>15615114
Funny trivia: the illustrator of this cover is the same author of the Outlaw Star manga.
I fucking love VOTOMS but I didn't think bersaga shit was trsnslated
bloodsucker best mech btw
>>15615810
I don't like the fact that the Bloodsucker is cannon fodder in its anime.
>>15617299
Ypsilon was fucking shit up in one though
>>15617321
Ypsilon elevates the performance of any AT. He would be shit up in a Busy Crab but would still be defeated by Chirico.
>>15617978
Chirico only surpassed Ypsilon at sunsa and got cucked hard before that, not to mention he was literally unable to die even if killed before he killed wiseman. Ypsilon was the shit before sunsa
>>15617299
Everything is cannon fodder in VOTOMS.
Maybe except Shadowflare.
There's a Playstation 1 game where you can play as the Blue Knight Berserga characters. It's pretty good (well, for a VOTOMS game), but the characters aren't voiced or anything. I can post some images, if you want.
>>15618068
Chris Katz(e) from the PSX game. He's the pilot of Shadow Flare.
>>15614539
Ronny pilots a Fatty she nicknamed "Funny Devil", and Rudolf Discohma is none other than the pilot of Death Messenger.
>>15618051
Bloodsucker looks like it should be a final boss, and in most of the video games its a difficult enemy to beat. It shouldn't be a grunt AT that gets easily wiped out by the protagonists in Turbo Customs.
>>15619621
Armor in VOTOMS is as good as paper so the main difference between AT models is speed and armaments. The Turbo Custom wins on both: it's faster than the Blood Sucker (98km/h vs 82km/h), and has more weapons.
>>15619665
How many Bloodsuckers should one Turbo Custom really be able to take out? The Turbo Custom pilots were former Red Shoulders but so were the Bloodsucker pilots.
>>15619729
In other words the portrayal of the Bloodsucker is embarassing and pathetic. It should have been a Danger Melon or Orderbuckler level adversary, requiring teamwork, guile, or luck to defeat.
Plastic 1/24 Shadow Flare now available for preorder from VOLKS Japan webstore:

My total price was 14580yen for the kit + 3300yen EMS shipping to USA + 647yen handling fee = 18527yen or $172.88 USD. I used my credit card through PayPal which for some reason charges a higher conversion rate than the bank would charge when using the credit card directly.

>>15622574
This is an H doujin from the 90's. I can't find any information about it online in English or Japanese. I own it but its in storage in another city far away. I remember the main Roni story being about rape and I think there was also a Chirico/Fyana story.
This is a plastic 1/18 Zerverus toy from CM's Corporation. The example in the pictures is slightly touched up but it's a pretty detailed toy. These are pretty cheap online because the ABS in a lot of CM's Corporation toys suffer from Gold Plastic Syndrome.
>>15623806
that reminds me, it was main votoms instead of Blue Knight, but there was a Lemon People where they were running through doujins on the market and one was "Alice Troopers", with 80s style lolis hanging around a Scopedog or something
>>15623880
Link?
>>15623914

What's the best scopedog model kit/figure?
This is a more recent official VOTOMS manga with some lewd content.
>>15623924
I don't own any but the Bandai 1/20 Scopedog seems to be the best kit. The best toy is probably the ThreeZero 1/12 Scopedog that hasn't been released yet.
>>15622574
I can post more of them, just a sec.
Sha Battuku (Berserga BTS) and Loni Shartley (Funny Devil).
Rudolf Discohma (Death Messenger) and Kwic Warkton (Rising Tortoise) - this guy >>15622574
.
I thought Death Messenger would look a bit more... glum.
Oura Nigatta (Dark Ox) and Mudie Lokol (Great Berserga).
Black Ox uses a flamethrower as a main weapon.
Ganial (Ironman 1) and Bogul (Ironman 2).
Kain McDougal (Berserga BTS II).
Bonus: a Kain McDougal depiction from the PC-98 VOTOMS game (1996). I think some of the other portraits could be other characters from side-stories, but I didn't recognize anyone.
>>15624061
Was there really a flamethrower in Blue Knight or was it just a weapon that looked like a VOTOMS flamethrower but just fired the same glowing balls as every other gun in the game?
I remember Lightning Slash definitely had a great flamethrower animation.
>>15624107
There is a flamethrower. Dark Ox uses the flamethrower and missiles to attack.
In the PS2 game, Shadow Flare's grenades are kinda harmless, while in the PSX game, they're sorta like seizure-inducing explosions that scatter everywhere. Gotta love media adaptations.
>>15624117
I found a video that demonstrates the flamethrower animation, thanks!

>I think some of the other portraits could be other characters from side-stories, but I didn't recognize anyone.
By 1996, chances are that they are or characters from Dead Ash (X68000) and/or characters from the Black Unicorn (PC-8800) games.
And this bad res image is the only one I have with the characters from the Black Unicorn game. This >>15625583 one is from Dead Ash, by the way.
>>15625353
Is Hell Missionel really in that game? I remember there are parts to make Tropical Sultan.
>>15625592
I've found some images on a blog, but never had any luck finding this particular game. Even the archive.org collection, with more than 2000 games, doesn't have this game.
>>15625776
There are two main modes in the PSX game:
- Battling World
- Blue Knight Battle
Blue Knight Battle is sorta like an Arcade Mode that fighting games have. You choose one of the characters of the novel and fight all the way to the boss, Shadow Flare.
Battling World is the longest mode. It's kinda like an RPG mode, where you start as a nobody fighting in Battling. You'll meet some of the novel characters along the way, although I don't remember that character/mech. I remeber you meet Kain McDougal at the second city you arrive, but not fighting him. I'll take a look at the game again, see if I still have my save game.
Also, someone posted videos of the VOTOMS PC-98 game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze-7veNLwhg
The music is pretty good. Someone talented was probably behind it.
I've managed to beat the PSX Berserga game, and I've never seen that Hell Missionel-esque AT. I looked for custom parts to recreate it, but couldn't find any.
Anyway, this thread served a good purpose: I've found a lot of codes and secrets for this game (who knew, a 20-year old game!), and posted them on GameFAQs.
The final unlocks in the game are:
- Shadow Flare (final boss)
- Zelberios (alternate final boss) - I think this is another version of Berserga?
- Wheeldog - a Scopedog variant that carries a ballistic shield. It's used by the police, I think. The character who uses it is named "Inspector Mordo Mane".
>>15625583
I'll see if I can post them, maybe you'll recognize someone I didn't.
It looks like >>15625583 was right. Indeed some of those characters look like characters from Black Unicorn (specially the guy with the glasses). I think the Quentian guy is either Sha or Mudie (from Berserga).
Here's Shadowflare.
And Zelberios. It has a pile punker on its shoulder instead of its arm. I remember the VOTOMS original from Sunrise Eiyuutan (forgot the name) had something of the sort too.
>>15626708
Zerverus is a type of Future Experimental (FX) Armored Trooper called Calamitydog. There are three established Calamitydogs known as Blue Version (Zerverus), Green Version (has a left arm claw like Strikedog/Rabidlydog), and Red Version (has backpack mounted cannons positioned over the shoulders). Some Blue Knight AT designs didn't appear in the novels and were original, exclusive designs for the Hobby Japan mooks (Blue Knight I & II).
>>15626708
The Pile Banker is on the arm. You can see the gray strut in your picture.
>>15626889
This pic shows it more clearly.
>>15626708
>I remember the VOTOMS original from Sunrise Eiyuutan (forgot the name) had something of the sort too.
Desguid. Although that really had a shoulder pile bunker.

>>15627219
Death Guide seems like a better translation.
This thread pleases me.
>>15626680
Taking Kain as base, the art style is so off that is difficult to say who they are supposed to be. I thought for a minute that the girl with brown skin and rose red could be this, totally different, girl from Dead Ash, but the spiked pauldron is what make me have some reservations.
>>15629417
I've finished Dead Ash, and the Quentian-looking guy (with White Hair) is Dam Rook/Luke, a Perfect Soldier from that game.
Here's the ending card of Dead Ash, by the way.
>>15631890
Did you get screenshots of all the AT variations?
>>15631897
I've only seen green and blue Bloodsuckers. I'll try to play again and get screenshots from every stage.
You can play as a variant of Berserga called Berserga Type 22.
>>15631906
The cutscenes show some interesting AT variation art, right? They look simplified and undetailed during gameplay.
>>15631890
>the Quentian-looking guy (with White Hair) is Dam Rook/Luke, a Perfect Soldier from that game.
Oh, so is to be this guy? Boy, the guy who did this >>15626680 was really off the mark.
Here's the screenshots.
The woman is an aide to the antagonist (the Melkian official).
Dam Rook was a Perfect Soldier made with the same process as Niva (a cyborg), because the process used in Fyana/Ypsilon was too costly.
Ash's name is actually Arthur Light. He was a soldier in the Melkian army until the events that happen in the intro (I think his squad is wiped out or something).
Sadly, there isn't much art of the ATs, just the one in the screenshot. The AT sprites in-game are barely recognizable. The final boss pilots a Strikedog.
This is the third media where I've seen someone use a Danger Melon (Ecrevisse). I thought it was a Baralant secret prototype? In Berserga, there's a guy with a mechanical hand that also pilots one.
Are there any pdfs of the Berserga novels online?
I remember some anon posted a website where you could read some excerpts off the VOTOMS novels.
>>15632806
None that I am aware of. Then again, this thread has made me realize how out of the loop I've been. I have hard copies though and I'm willing to loan them to anyone interested in translating them.
I have the 1/24 Testarossa and its pretty fucking rad, other than the terribly weak joints.
>>15633753
Looks great! Ive got that and the 1/24 Zerverus but havent built either one. Im leaning toward building Zerverus next, though.
>>15633753
Where did you order it from? I used a proxy service when it came out because I didn't realize I could get it directly from VOLKS Japan then it was available from VOLKS USA several months later.
>>15633822
>Where did you order it from?
Otaku Mode, this was from a couple years ago though. I ordered a Terror Mirage from FSS too from them that I have yet to build.
