when PR launched, we had all those PR threads full of content, among it we had those short, one post, tales from the users, some VERY good.
one of my favorites was about Yukon Brawler first deployment, from the point of view of one of the soldier on the ground fighting Karloff, unaware they would drop Yukon for the first time.
anyone have that?
if not, then lets just have a Pac Rim thread for the old times
Fun times. Too bad PR2 doesn't look anywhere near as good.

>Too bad PR2 doesn't look anywhere near as good.
yeah, but there still time, maybe we get a good surprise on it

Clean your glasses and check again

shit you´re right , i remember it in the parade flashback and all that shit so i just looked for it in the murrican domes
gee, so no one saved those stories? well cant be helped
I miss those comics, but hey, once the girls "died" is only fair the are over
>>15601226
is this a tetsujin reference?
>>15607298
I think it's more old time comics of that era in general, like the Giant Robo ones too
It may be a specific cover that I'm missing the reference, though
Bump in case anyone else want to contribute
Am I the only one who Leatherback was their favorite kaiju?
>>15609491
well, he's certainly a brute.
>>15601050
Did they ever say what the difference between different marks was? Striker was clearly more refined than Cherno but didn't seem a lot more powerful for being 4 revisions newer.
>>15610581
too many, actually, from materials used to power plants and artificial muscles.
shock dampeners and other features too were important.
i think is fair to say the first 3 generations were more experimental, trying a lot of different things, making some big mistakes and some big hits alike. Cherno was one of those big hits, no wonder it stood side by side with marks IV and V, they probably evolved much around its basic chassis
>>15610581
Well for one the Mk1s were pieces of shit thrown together ASAP with almost no reactor shielding and Cherno lasting as long as it did was nothing more than a fluke. It clearly received tech upgrades and, hopefully, radiation protection for the cockpit.

We haven't seen a lot yet, but yeah I'm worried. Not only is it not Del Toro but they threw out his screenplay as well. I'm concerned it's just going to be a Transformers-esque mess meant to play for China considering Legendary's new partnership.
We could be surprised, but much of what made PR special in the first place was how much love for kaiju and super robots went into it and if there's nobody else behind the film with that kind of connection it might fall a little flat.
>>15611396
I like that there's a new Gipsy on a "Great Mazinger" level but the new mechanical designs feel a lot less creative. Love or hate the Pacific Rim mechs, at least everyone had a well-defined silhouette.
>>15611384
>radiation protection for the cockpit.
>implying Russians need such things
silly comrade
>>15611420
It looks like they're going for a
>strongboi
>fastboi
>jackofalltradesboi
team thing with the mechs this time.
>>15611620
it looks like they are going for generic eva ripoff yolo
>>15611601
from the thumb I thought it was that one guy who drew for SNK and drew that pic of Lesnar/Zangief
>>15611637
That also, these new ones probably have kaiju inside them too
>>15611620
>>15611637
I'm fine with this if it means all of the robots not named Gipsy aren't just jobbers this time.
>>15611620
Makes sense since they're already apparently gearing up for merchandising. It translates easily to shit like games.
