Turns out to be the same MS patched with junk parts.

What happened to Gundam Alex in Katana?

I know it was mothballed on Earth after Christina drove it into a heat hawk, and then the Titans turned it into Full Armor Alex, but did it get wrecked again in the manga?
>>
>>15598350
>It looks like a stupid kitbash.
>That's because it literally is.

That's actually kind of neat. Also I guess Mobiel Suit Gundam Katana is no longer canon then? The Alex showed up there repaired, armored up and evil all over.
>>
>>15598353
So, is it actually THE Alex, or just a bunch of spare parts from primarily Alex and other MS?
>>
>>15598361
Katana was never canon
>>
>>15598361
Manga aren't totally canon, and the stories that Sono Yoshihiro wrote are already quite... wacky, to say the least.

>>15598363
>>15598360
Did you read the translation? It only says it's based on the Alex. The upper body is newly constructed, except for the arms.
>>
>>15598358
Damn, I never noticed the aesthetic similarities of Alex and the F90 until this post.
>>
>Bastard lovechild of ALEX and the MK. II

I'm weirdly ok with this.
>>
>>15598350
>Buch Junk Inc
>Buch Concern
COULD MNOVSKI STILL ALIVE
>>
>>15598396
What does Dr. Minovsky have to do with the Buch concern?
>>
Interesting. What's translated as "Buch Junk" is actually, in katakana, "Buhho Junk" -- and the Buhho Conzern is a major power player behind the scenes in F91 (funding the Crossbone Vanguard IIRC).
>>
>>15598350
>Secret relationship between Buch and SNRI

Oh fuck.
>>
So what this is telling me is that these shorts are going to be more important in the grand scheme of things than we anticipated.

Well, at least I have a reason to be interested now.
>>
>>15598424
>So what this is telling me is that these shorts are going to be more important in the grand scheme of things than we anticipated.
Vaguely. It's just the Buch concern's early actions where they happen to get tangled with another Federation team while testing their engineering prowess. It's not like this is suddenly going to explain the Ronah family or anything.
>>
>>15598447
kinda wish it would
i watched F91 over the weekend and im still trying to piece some shit together.
like i guess the Rohans were a lot like the Zabi's in that they wanted to create an independent government from the Federation but intead of the Zabi's "Imperialism is kinda neat" they were more "Classism should be brought back". im still trying to pin some of that shit down
i feel like instead of cutting some fluff and making an ok 2 hour movie the production team tried to cram a 30 episode series into that run time
>>
>>15598547
F91 was supposed to be a reboot. some anon posted pastebin with early script, episode listing, storybards and VA list in it. in short, macro managing both on sunrise and bandai sides fucked them over and Tomino literally phoning everything.
>>
Buch Concern.

They suddenly introduced 14-15m tall MS.

I think the first Denon Zon spotted was in the Silhouette Formula story.
>>
>>15598350
>Buch Cocern built it

Huh so the Ronah's built it them selves huh?

>>15598358
They were also involved albeit lightly in Unicorn, with the Loto, never mentioned in the show or anything just side shit.
>>
So Twilight Axis is basically a set up to F91?
>>

>>15598651
So a set up to nothing then
Because Sunrise will never animate anything that's part of Late UC
Maybe the Mars Zeon stuff
>>
>>15598662
F90 is a pretty big part of Late UC to be honest, it's one of the bigger F91 side stories.
>>
>>15598662
>Maybe the Mars Zeon stuff
i don't see anything wrong with this, it has zeon and set in late UC, normies and autists got what they want that means more filthy money for bandai jewery.
>>
>>15598695

> a pretty big part of Late UC. It's one of the bigger side stories

That's a contradiction. If it's a side story it's not a big part or even relatively big part. The story of the animations must, by definition and design, be understandable without the side story.
>>
>>15598404
>is actually, in katakana, "Buhho Junk"

That's just because Japanese is retarded.

Bach is literally バッハ; Bahha.

Buhho is Bunch,
>>
>>15598744
Buch*
>>
>>15598739
Yeah but with how little late UC there is, it becomes a bigger part is what I'm saying, when there's only one movie and two manga that take place around F91 it becomes a bigger piece of the that tiny slice of it, is what I'm saying. Plus when I say big part, I should of said More known, at least to older fans over there.

I get what you're saying too though,
>>
>>15598739
F90's comic story starts in 1990, and a year later they launch the F91 movie. Without the building up there is no such hype for the Formula Project.
Although F90 is using the dropped design of F91 it still has a special place among fans. The MS (1st unit) runs good and doing miracles for 16 years. Fans call it the luckiest MS in Gundam history.
>>
>>15598800

That's like saying without Astray there's no hype for SEED, or without the various 00 manga there was no hype for 00. Shows and movies have trailers, merchandise and advertising campaigns to let people know they exist and get them excited. A manga can help with that, but isn't going to do so alone. Unless you want to claim there was no advertising campaign, trailer or anything else for F91. Or that they all found no cultural foothold whatsoever.

Also, I've been on /m/ for something like 15 years on and off now (way more on than off), since a year or so after it became a board and I've not heard one single miracle about the F90; I've barely heard about it at all. I've certainly never heard it called the "luckiest suit in Gundam" or any variant of that. It's fans might call it that, but they're few and far between and don't talk about the story or suit all that much by my experience.
>>
>>15598579

Hopefully this will see the light soon.
>>
>>15598994
This, hell I'm a fan of F90, and I've never heard anyone call it the luckiest suit in gundam, or other fans either.
>>
>>15600532
F90 is probably the most generic Gundam design ever though. It could comfortably fit into nearly any AU or period in UC.
>>
>>15598350
>>15599171
fan art level design, whatever that means.
>>
>>15600683
Well it's done by one of the SD Gundam designer who works for Bandai and Sunrise. Still more official than the F99 Record Breaker by Hasegawa.
>>
>>15600564
Yes and?

Am I not supposed to like it now? Also deisgn wise yeah probably but it's size wise it's smol like other suits of the era.
>>
>>15598390
weirdly? those are both very popular designs (as they should be)
>>
>>15600564
Could have been straight out of SEED with all the packs it could equip to its hardpoints. Then SEED would have had more style.
>>
>>15600564
Well duh, the point of the F90 is to add the different weaponry to make it stand out. That was the whole idea behind the hardpoints.
>>
Nice design. I've always loved the Alex and Mk II, especially the later.
>>
>>15598447
At the very least, I now have a reason to keep an eye on it. If it does end up being the bridge between early and late UC than it'll already be accomplishing more than any of us really expected it to be. On its own it probably won't bridge that but the fact that their bringing up terms relating to it means we're getting closer to new territory.
>>
>>15600564
>>15601196
It's the amount of direct copy, like copying a sentence from a book word by word and put in it your essay.
>>
>>15598662
>Maybe the Mars Zeon stuff

This could be the only shot at some legitimate late UC stuff:
>Zeonwank
>Oldsmobile army which is basically refurbished OYM suits with Geara Doga internals
>A modular protagonist gundam
>Antagonist gundam as well

I could see it moving quite a bit of plastic, especially the Oldsmobile army designs.
>>
>>15598359
>>still as the kick ass arm gatlings
>im cool with it
Yeah but the model kit itself can't fucking use it.

Just like how the STUPID Fumina has arm gatlings from GM Sweater but also can't use them because they're just props and the people at BanDai are motherfucking assholes who can engineer a 144 scale, fully transforming Zeta, but can't seem to be bothered to engineer a pair of gatling guns to come out of a pair of arms.
>>
>>15598350
>beam rifle has its own internal reactor
this is the most interesting part IMO, have any other suits done this before?
>>
>>15604496
>Oldsmobile
Maybe they could get GM to do a tie-in?
>>
>>15605563
I think its the nu gundam's rifle with mods

The entire thing looks like it was a an unused buildfighters custom gundam with all the kitbashed parts.
>>
>>15605541
shrug, i still like it over all

>>15605563
I don't think that's a generator, it's just a beam rifle with stored particles inside instead of a separate e-pack. OYW MS like the RX-78, GM, and Gelgoogs had ones like that.

Rick Dom did have a beam bazooka with its own reactor though.
>>
>>15598378

It literally says

>It is not known how Alex itself was acquired

which implies that they have THE Gundam Alex, and that this is it with other shit added on.

it's almost as if Sunrise told Bandai the kit has to follow the fictional backstory too. yechk.

On that note, Japan is wondering why this thing is still managing to sell, who the fuck is buying it, and IS NOT shelfwarming. There goes any chance sales wise this was a bad idea.
>>
>>15606881
Maybe some hardcore UC fans that were sick of IBO and got tristan despite its shitty old mold
>>
This kit truly looks like shit my nigga
>>

>>
The amount of butthurt this kit has caused among western "modelers" is hilarious.
>>

Look on the bright side, maybe Bandai will think that people also like the Alex and we finally get a 2.0 after a MG Tristan?

>>
>>15607318
Blu Ray was already announced back in April slowpoke http://www.gundam.info/topic/17908
>>
There's something about the tristan that is really off putting for me, I was sorta hyped seeing the animation teaser images of it in the show but the kit is just damn ugly. Even the old ass Alex HG looks better.
>>
>>15607246
Yeah japan hates it
>>
>>15607210
>that one Alex
there's TWO you cocksucking asshat. Learn to fucking use your semen stained eyes you fag.
>>
>>15607195
that's because it's shit. still pretty expensive for a piece of shit.
>>
>>15607166
Gundam fans are incapable of irony, they can only fall victim to it
>>
I saw a japanese person post a letter on twitter weeks ago berating Bandai for usung the old alex mold for the Tristan. The tweet had a couple hundred rt's and favorites.
I doubt it's selling that well.
>>
>>15607246
>release well-sculpted, well-articulated and colour accurate kits for years
>release piece of shit
>"hahah you guys aren't REAL modelers the REAL modelers are the ones who exclusively work on the original 1980s mono-colour kits if you like actual modern kits you're not a REAL modeler like I am ;)"
>>
It's a shame this is turning out to be so crap, I really do like the MS itself. It wouldn't be too hard to paint the rifle, but there's no excuse for the wrist gun problem.
>>
>>15604216
I don't know it wasn't that generic back when it came out, not flashy by any means really but yeah. Plus that complaint can be leveled at any Gundam that isn't compeltely Donut steel and looks RX-78 esq anyways.

>>

>>

>>
>>15609191
This. It's all part of the master plan.
>>
>>15609181
Wow! A PLANE kit?! I totally RESPECT you, I will no longer complain about actual lazy kit production because there are kits out there that have even worse construction!
>>
>>15609254
>most highly intricate and detailed kits in existence by a fucking ridiculous margin
>still being this fucking entitled
There is a reason you gunplachildren are ruthlessly and correctly mocked as the laziest shits who ever lifted nippers by every other modelling genre out there. You barely have any work to do at all and you still complain, most of you have never even touched a bottle of glue.
>>
>>15609295
The kit is old

Accept it
>>
>>15604496
See, the problem with F90 ever getting adapted is that its very core is too similar to 0083. I would legitimately love to see some sort of animated story about either Mars Zeon or Re-Zeon, but making it interesting would be extremely hard since kicking off yet another remnant uprising would be really boring.

Silhouette F91 made things a little more interesting with its plot about not-Titans oppressing Zeek remnants, but that feels so Zeekwank its difficult to stomach.

As much as I want to see more of late UC it really needs to have someone brave enough to shake off the idea that every series needs to follow a set pattern.

I really want them to make a revive of the alex with better proportions, parts seperation, and articulation. And hopefully they can give it the same chobham face armor the SD has. It just looks so damn stupid being completely covered in chobham armor except for the damn head being completely exposed. The feet are pretty damn bare too. It's an eyesore.

That's like "a soldier running out into a hail of gunfire fully clad in tank armor without a helmet" levels of stupid. Or like that one jackass in Starship Troopers who took off his helmet during training and blew a hole into his head. I mean, what if someone shot the alex in the face? or blew up the feet?
>>
>>15609328
