I haven't seen any of these movies since I made the mistake of watching the third one in theaters, why is Optimus Prime a knight guy who wants to kill Autobots now? Who is Marky Mark supposed to be? What happened to Shia LeBouf's character?

Mark's character is...Cayde? Cade? Something. An inventor and Autobot sympathizer who ended up getting roped into the events of the previous installment because he wound up salvaging Optimus in truck form and shady government agents led by Kelsey Grammar came knocking.

Optimus has been corrupted by his maker, and as for Shia, he's just gone. I don't know if any explanation was offered for his departure, unlike Fox.

5's bringing back Duhammel Tyrese and Turturo (some of the few actually tolerable humans from the first three) so maybe they'll explain what happened to Sam.
