What is the most patrician way in fiction to become a mecha pilot?
>Joining the military and getting appointed as a pilot officer, getting grunt equipment and eventually getting a custom machine
> Stumbling onto a state-of-the-art superweapon while a battle is raging in your hometown
> Being blackmailed by an aloof authority figure threatening to throw the burden on a severely injured girl
> Being conscripted as a child soldier and being forced to undertake grueling training by militants
I'm sure there are further scenarios out there. Which one best resonates with you.
I for one, would prefer the appointment route.

Joining the military and progressing by normal means is always my option of choice. But, the second option generally carries my favorite piece o logic, which is:
>This state of the art war machine was developed and build by my father (under contract, with aid of a huge team of technicians and using goverment/private backers funds) so, therefore, it is mine by right!

Finding the body of the mecha in a Jersey dump and you tune it up yourself, rewire the whole system, and customize the controls so they are incredibly easy for you but impossible for anyone else.
>becoming a mecha pilot
>not being a space energy lifeform and possessing a sports car to be a robot

Fuck military faggotry. True /m/an needs only his hot blood and desire to save the world!
>Get bullied by cool elite officer who was top of his class
>steal experimental weapon to bully him right back
>get mad at your dad for cheating on your mom, AND get mad at your mom for not listening to all your stupid problems
It's really obvious guize

I'm pretty sure plebs don't get to choose what is patrician or not
What if
Hear me out
What if you train and study your way in the military to become a competent pilot

Unpopular as it may be, I like how Brain Powerd did it
>Find the mecha by chance
>skips to a month right after during the MC was trained to use it fully.

Don't forget you used grocery money to buy it.

Surviving your first and every other engagement afterward is a nice start.

I think it's cooler if the character is self-trained. Like it's just a hobby in the beginning. Then his skills get better with practice and his natural talents evolve. Eventually his skill becomes gains more notoriety.
Using the skills you acquired from driving non-combat machines on a combat machine, and literally making the damn thing dance, getting the attention of the ace squad in the area.
Having space autism

What about
>My family founded and runs this corporation that builds mechs and flying this mech is my birthright!
>>15592234
I prefer
>torrent some relevant shows
>recline on couch and press play
Building the mech AND learning to pilot it by yourself.
Buy a military commission.

To be patrician is to be nobility. Nobility is inherited. Therefore the most patrician way to become a mecha pilot is to inherit the mecha. Kouji was already a patrician mecha pilot, since he got it from his grandpa. He showed everyone else the true way.

>Mad scientist Dad/Uncle/Grandpa builds you a robot

The best way is
>drafted by organization because you're one of the few people tough enough, fearless enough and skilled enough to pilot the death machine capable of saving the human race
