Is this a show worth watching? Huge fan of 0079 here
Yup.
Yeah.
Ditto
Sure.
fuckin awesome
>>15591339
It's not really anything like 0079
Expect Mad Apocalypse Dune Runner: A Space Odyssey, not some generic space war
Definitely worth it though
>>15591339
Ow hell yeah.
probs

Yes, but there is a massive drop of momentum after Kummen that is never properly rectified. The final arc was almost painful to slog through.

Spot on. Votoms the tv series was a wasted opportunity. Dougram does good what Votoms did bad.
On the other hand going contrary to /m/'s creed the ovas and spinoffs of Votoms are badass. Some of the ovas concentrate on Chirico who becomes a more interesting character (not that there was much to begin with) than he was in the tv show while others explore the world of Votoms. I'd say read the synopsis of Votoms (instead of watching 50 episodes of mentally retarded Chirico) and go watch the ovas and spinoffs. That will give you a much better appreciation for the greatness that never was.

You either have horrible taste or are retarded. Dougram is only good if you are a braindead realisticuck and politicuck.

>You either have horrible taste or are retarded. Dougram is only good if you are a braindead realisticuck and politicuck.
Oh my goodness have I offended you with my opinion ? Don't worry continue being butthurt it won't kill you.
>>15591339
The last arc gets a bit too Star Wars for my taste, but it's pretty good overall
>>15591862
You're silly

>Dougram does good what Votoms did bad.
Both have essentially the complete opposite premise, so I don't see how they're in any way comparable
> Chirico who becomes a more interesting character
He becomes less interesting. The OVAs solidify his plot armor as some actual in-show phenomenon and take away the one thing that was an actual motivation for him
>while others explore the world of Votoms
Not anymore than the original show itself did. It's rare that you see a show so thoroughly define four different locations over the course of 50 episodes, to the point where they bloody reused these locations in Phantom Arc
The only OVA I actually like more than the show is Mellowlink, and that's just because it has some really clever on foot versus robot action scenes without me having to suffer through Heavy Object's retarded politics and ecchi bullshit
>>15593315
>ecchi bullshit
>implying that wasn't one of the better points of HO
Fuck off plebbitor.

Dougram is the best mecha show about war ever made
>>15593133
Claiming its an opinion doesn't make it less wrong.
I like it when realismfags get BTFO by VOTOMS. They expect a realistic and gritty war story, but instead they get a mashup of various 80s and sci-fi movies with Space Rambo as the protagonist.
>>15591392
>>15592699
Even for /m/'s standards, it is a poor bait.
>>15593646
It actually made me a realismfag
>>15591339
It is excellent, though the first and third arcs drag plot wise, with too much repetition. It does'nt really matter though since the action more than makes up for that.
>>15591979
Are you incapable of reading?
Quaint was awful.
>>15595392
Are you incapable of perceiving reality?
You havnt seen Quent yet.
TV Series is ok.
Some parts are great, some not so much. It drags forever and relies more on its atmosphere than on its characters or plot.
Some OVAs are pretty neat and help to understand some of the show aspects.
Phantom Chapter however is pure shit. And Alone Again isn't better.
>>15591339
Trust me it is a great show to check out.
>>15591339
If you don't like it I don't like you.
>>15591339
amazing show but mellowlink is better in everyway
>>15595559
Are you an ass?
I did and it was the typical bullshit plot device ending arc that plagues far too many mecha shows. They get to the final arc and THEN they start peppering in how important Quaint is? How there's all these mysteries, and all this amazing technology, and no one has ever seen any of it in thousands of years, even though it's literally sprawled visibly all across a major city visited by various governments and foreigners with gigantic entrances in obvious and easily spotted landmarks. Then they just hand-wave it away with "yeah but anybody that looks into it disappears," which is basically one of the most insultingly basic ways to introduce the "hero as the key" trope.
It's idiotic and shows that the plot wasn't fully developed from the get-go (big surprise with anime, am I right?), and that wiseman was a complete asspull explanation in order to end the show within the allotted space.
The tv show drops massively after Kummen, this is undeniable unless you are an idiot or so easily impressed that you can look past contrived messiah endings because a bunch of robots duke it out. Thank god the OVAs provide additional substance to Votoms, because it would be one of the biggest flop endings to a mecha property ever if Quaint was the last we ever got from that universe.
