It's a part of the ending of the Toei anime; he's a machine, (Ma-chiiin-da!), he's a demon (Ma-jiiin-daa!), He's Mazinger Z. Seriously. I have started to think that a good translation for Mazinger's name would be something like "Demonizer Z" or something. He's a machine demon- and our robot!

I was thinking about this the other day. If the Romaji is "Majinga", then how come the English name isn't "Mazinga"? Where did the "er" come from?
I know those old Shogun Warriors toys called him Mazinga.

It's マジンガー, or Majingaa. In Japanese, all the English words ending in "er" are written with a long A vowel, like Juggler getting written as ジャグラー, so I guess マジンガー is meant to be read as "someone who Mazins" or something.
