"Mecha" is not synonymous with general sci-fi. You either have robots in your show or you don't. I don't get what's so hard about this, but apparently it was too much for the mods to grasp and so now we have the men in rubber suits board for anything with even vague sci-fi elements

I mean, you're right, but at this point, I think it would make the most sense for /a/ to be a board about airing anime only while /m/ is replaced by a board about non-airing anime. That's kind of what this board already is, but the pretense of this board being about giant robots means we often have shitty debates like this instead of actually discussing shows.
