Surprisingly enough, this works on my 2009 laptop ( with almost everything set at low).
With gamepad support, more parts(even if only for stetic pourposes) and an online mode, this could be a fucking fabulous /m/ game.
Basically like Virtua On with custom mechs and online mode for PC.
Also really strange name for a mech game.

Depends on the system of the weapon. Having two transformable weapons essentially gives you the option of having the two forms at once, on each hand.

Others build up charge like the dominus or the beam saber, so you can alternate between them or store charges for one while freely using the other

You use the alt-fire to charge the pilebunker, combo with the beam saber and use the pilebunker as a combo finisher.

Even if magnums did run out of ammo they at least do damage and can turn into a melee weapon later if you run out. Especially since it has a huge forward thrust attack.

Strictly speaking :
- smg allows you to shoot while moving and well you can squeeze it dry
- bursr rifle deals more dmg per shot than switchblade, and has faster bullet speed. It also has enough ammo for most fights. Try fighting a double burst rifle ai on hard.
- shotgun is generally better at interrupting people in melee due to stopping power. Switchblade gun mode just isnt the same. Best comboed with a melee weapon.

I tried co-op. Two players versus two Computer AI, it was pretty great but what ends up happening is that the battle devolves into two one verse one matches that constantly get in eachother's way.

It's a student game simply called Custom Fighter, which we were hoping to expand/rebrand later, once we had the experience to make it into a full product.

As of right now, there isn't a distributable version of the game at all, and it would barely even count as barebones by today's industry standards. It's just being made by me and one other person, so it's not likely to catch up to a complete studio filled with experienced developers.

I'm a game developer too, and I make /m/ games. You really need to get rid of that attitude if you want to make anything worthwhile. First of all, this idea has been done a thousand times whether it be Custom Robo, Medabots, this game, Armored Core, Gundam Breaker, and or anything else. You'd know that if you actually were an /m/an. But your worst offense is thinking that a game is only worth making to "make it big."

Don't be a fucking tool, dude. Make games that you want to play and if it's good others will want to play it too. If not, at least you made something that YOU wanted to play. Success is nice, but it's not a healthy way to create anything worth a damn. I know this because I used to be like you.

Lastly, two people is more than enough to make a great game that can compete with a full studio. You just have to be willing to put in this legwork.

I'd like a chance to redeem ourselves and our shitty opinions about Armored Core, as well as learn more about these kinds of games so I know what ours is "competing" against. I've watched a lot of Virtual-On gameplay and lurked in the Gundam Breaker threads before, which is where most of the practical inspiration for our game comes from (namely gameplay and robot parts),but I admit that I'm not too familiar with AC or ZoE. You can make it 2v2 as well. I find it to be a mix of Zone of Enders with Gundam Versus and Armored Core's customization(much simpler of course). It's pretty fun and you can play splitscreen in the current build. Idk if they'll be adding online, but if they do it'd be pretty damn near peefect. Save for the few weird bugs and balance changes they need to fix.

The game's not hard, the learning curve is just really steep at first. Once you figure out that the attacks you use are based on how you're moving at the time, you're pretty much set, and it just becomes a slightly more calculated mash-fest.

I beat it on Hard Mode with just less than an hour spent actually fighting, used heavy shield/drillhammer as well as rapid missiles and swarm missiles. I was way over my weight capacity, but speed is overrated anyways since the boost dashes and the attacks always go the same distance over the same time.

I found Double Magnums made it a little too easy though that might just be the CPU not knowing how to deal with them. Hopefully the devs will add reloading or purging for the other ranged weapons so they aren't just dead weight once you use them.

Double tower shield is so broken, I cleared the arcade without a single lose and feel like cheating. Just need to spam left and right attack to tackle enemy, block their attack a few time, the machine guns aren't even necessary.

I'm the maximum overmad guy from before, and I know I sounded completely assblasted about all this then, but in hindsight, I'm actually pretty glad I found out about this game. After playing through the arcade mode a few times, I think I know what works and what doesn't for this one, so I can keep it in mind when I make mine.

As for joining forces, I don't think it's likely. My partner and I are still in early college, and the team that made this game is both fairly well-established and in no immediate need of more designers.

In this game it's difficult to combo because escaping from a hit is very accessible (just consumes boost)

So the trick with the drill/hammer is to use its long startup to set up whenever you think the enemy is going to dodge out. This works very well when the enemy is cornered.

A video I saw alternates between left and right-handed drills, using only the forward+attacks of each.

Tried the demo, seems fun but I have one major complain: dashing is fucked up because the camera can't keep up and flashy animations leaves me a bit confused, fov should be higher to properly track your movements.

Update TLDR:

2 Back Parts.

- Arcing sequential missiles. Fast travel. Reliable hit as long as you aren't up close.

- Rapid back missiles. Like the shoulder ones, but one more volley. So now you have a... 6+8 direct fire missile setup total.

- Some Reticule change to show when someone's Blocking/Invul/Damageable.

They also posted another thing about a Gladiator style body, and a back cannon preview in one of their vids.
