I remember watching the movie several times. Kinda wish they morphed more, but they needed to give the actors more face time. I didn't mind Justin either.

I didn't see much of the Tommy episodes, but it does look like a mess. The change in status quo with Bulk and Skull comes to mind. I liked the newer cast which probably made me like In Space more.

Seeing as it would've started in the 80s, it would've been a mild success that wouldn't have taken the nation by storm, since TMNT, Transformers, GI Joe, etc. were still very huge around the time.

Power Rangers was able to hit the mark in the 90s because said franchises were starting to dwindle in popularity at the time. Whether it would've continued to this day had it started from Bioman is another interesting question, perhaps they would've used the Bioman suits for a little bit longer and switch to the Flashman suits or something.

The way to tell an assist is the border around it being a square or a jagged border
S rank assists would be Blue2017. Past that its a toss up from Samurai female red, zeo pink,wildforce black, mmpr black. But really any offensive guard is really good. They already nerfed the everloving shit out of the old xandred assist by practically removing all but 50 of its health making it more risky to use since it was practically 100%necessary to use

I also have a 4chan group that for the most part people just ask for shards except one lurker who does friendlies with clan mates. If you wanted in just look up 4chan and ask here, i usually watch this thread anyhow and i can set to invite only. Before friendlies there was no point to doing clans since there was no pvp outside of random match making. But they have made some good choices since the start of the game a few months ago.

Not seen is the promo white ranger from mmpr. They keep them to the side and let people buyfag him early before allowing him to be unboxed. He's alright, probably just going to be added quietly.

Rarity goes common rare epic legendary.

1:3 or 4 rare to common
1:5 epic to common
1:7 legendary to common

Usually its not too bad desu. There are somr where lag makes it unplayable b/c global match making. But I've had a handful of games where there are graphical glitches that make the game actually unplayable, but more often than not connectivity is alright if you have wifi or a decent 4g.

1 coins for upgrading only unless you can unlock something from the store but never buy more than 1 shard per day of rares or epics
2 after the first shard unlock more will pour in because if its locked then it fucks with drop rates
3 crystals on purple boxes only. Silver boxes are a fucking meme. And even then only use shards if you have a promo for it. Nothing all leads/assists unless you're looking for something.
4 the skill up abilities are pmuch another way to farm xp since at higher corruption chests you literally get 500+per corruption so feel free to use them to up your damage

Most of the time it's not worth doing that unless you are just wanting to look at what some of the other guys look like, but really everything is pretty straight forward. that's also where the direct match button is, Along with the other direct match button being listed in the clans.

There are the daily crates you get every 4 hours
the the blue crates that just unlock every 3 hours
the orange crates that unlock every 8 hours (usually including rares)
purple crates that contain epics that take 12 hours (the best imo)
silver crates that contain a fuckton of rares that take that take 15 hours. Though they contain a fuckton of rares it's usually not great at the cost of the shards. Really only worth if you get it out of a game which is possible.
Finally gold crates which have a metric ton of rares and epics, but from my awareness do not drop. You could buy it with gems but It's kinda worth just getting the the purple crates over the gold crates because of total cost. Also gives you more opportunities to get different epics/rares rather than a fat stack of dupes

For the most part pretty shitty up until you unlock one shard for it. I couldn't get a single legendary. Finally I get one Psycho red assist legendary (it's shit) and every single time I get a new one I'm slightly mad it's not the Gokai Yellow Leader who is busted as fuck.

I wouldn't buy anything from the shops unless you managed to find a character who has shards on sale that you haven't unlocked yet. Even then I'd only buy one
in terms of cash stuff, you could if you really wanted to, but outside of the 5 dollar bundles that float by some times I wouldn't suggest it. Unless you just really need that gold.

leveling is somewhat shitty in that you can only get stuff through ranking up your guys which takes a fuckton of gold at higher ranks. Even more-so you can get exp from ranking up your abilities through using the gems you get from the corruption crates.
I also forgot the daily corruption crates that give you a decent amount of shards given that you actually complete them. Though at most you're only ever going to do around 1000-1500 at higher ranks and the crates at league 8 cost 22000 to open up. It's a huge fucking pain in the ass, but it does yield a fair amount of stuff.

If there ever ends up being a time where enough people give a damn about this game I could throw together a cleaner "wiki" sheet with info and breakdowns of characters with the help of others. Though really the fighting boils down to

do you hit hard with single hits?
if no to that can you knock someone up to juggle?
do you have a offensive guard?
do you have a guard break?
are these moves low stamina?
if you answered yes to 3/5 of these then your character is good. If you answered yes to 4/5 of these you're probably very good.

assists usually just boil down to
do you need HP?
do you need a guard break?
you need 2017 blue assist if this is ever in the store just buy it.

They buff and nerf stuff though so if your character isn't in taste right now, maybe later they will be so don't be discouraged.

Nerfed: as mentioned previously Xandred is a huge fucking faggot. On release everyone used his assist. Now he has almost no health to imput to your hp pool and very few people use him now because it's risky.

Changed: They changed the way Strikes effect the player against someone using a guard break where you will get super armor if you start it while they are throwing their guard break. Guard break used to just be a free attack if they fucked up and threw a late strike. Nice little quality of life change.

Second act is the best, because it makes you think that maybe the movie might have a chance, but the third act is so bad it ends up being worthless.
Them having to be fully synchronized with each other to morph and the fact the megazord is proof of the newer team being better than Zordon´s team are cool concepts and it sucks they were wasted here.
There´s like 5 minutes of in suit fighting and then go for the zords.
They stay the whole cockpit scenes with their visors up, so you don´t even get to fully see the already shitty suits for long. Its baffling as the helmets are an important part of the sentai ethos (and essentially what allowed PR to exist in the first place).
Also doesn´t even settle on how much it wants to be the original and tries to compensate the differences with shallow fanservice. In the movie Zordon states the same rules as in the show, including not escalating fights. The already shitty fight with the putties is ended by Zack literally escalating the fight. Which shows they didn´t really think it through and just added the rules for fanservice but didn´t even care about making the movie consistent with itself.
And then there´s the ending where they just slap Rita into space which is as silly as having an emergency button that knees Ooze into a comet, but in the 90s movie it works because it doesn´t spend 2 hours trying to be grim and realistic.
The post-credits scene is also badly executed.

tl;dr Billy, some Zack scenes, the concept behind the morphing and megazord are the good things, everything else is shit.

I just saw the movie now. Tons a spoilers, especially if you haven't seen the movie.

+Billy is the most accurate and best character in the movie, especially the first half

-The suits and zords look like shit.
-The teens are nothing like the original(except for Billy). They are all outcasted edgy teens who hate the world with shitty parents. Almost DmC tier. I do think its possible to translate their original personality to modern times.
-Feels so bad its good at some points, but I can't tell if its ironic or not.
-Trini is the most annoying. She is the more closed than the rest.
-Jason suffers from first world problems.
-Billy dies with "Stand by me playing" and then gets resurrected
-Krispy Cream
-I don't know if I like edgy Rita. I think the actress is great though. It lightens up later on.
-Generic bully instead of Bulk and Skull.

Also I should note that Jason doesn't jerk off the bull. His stupid friend did.

Overall, I'm mixed on the movie. I would give it a 6/10. Won't mind sequel

I think it's weird to point this out about Jason when Zack and Billy are the only ones in the cast with problems completely out of their control. If anything, Kim's the one who needs special mention for being both completely awful AND arbitrary.

Just for curiosity's sake I caught a bit of Turbo since it was on Netflix. I find it incredibly interesting how much new footage they created for the show since that was a pretty low point for the series as a whole. I mean, from the little I've seen, it seems like all they use are the costumes and a tiny amount of stock footage of the megazord forming. Is this just a Turbo thing and does anybody know why they did this?

Also, just in general, is anybody surprised at how much effort they put into stitching the footage from sentai shows into some of the earlier shows to make a horrible Frankenstein show?

More and more, as the seasons progress. I mean, how they got away with the majority of the early Thunder Megazord fights is beyond me. I certainly didn't notice it too much when I was a kid, but it's so painfully obvious now it's just... fascinating.

Also, I miss when they actually put some effort into connecting things together. How do you go from the brilliance of the Phantom Ranger having the Delta Megazord in his possession to Ninja Steel's "this zord looks like your robot butler! WHAT A WEIRD COINCIDENCE!"

The megazord footage is also carranger. They did it because american humor is different than japanese humor and they didnt want to make comedic pr. They sort it out by space.

The sentai fanbase doesn´t know what a pardoy is. It has some self aware bits that play with the conventions of the genre (like the mentor "dying" on the first episode) but its still a sentai show. A more comedic one at it.

I don't think that was noticeable, since he didn't appear alongside any other Ranger suits like that, only by himself. What's noticeable is how he suddenly becomes really hyper at times, jumping around like an excited kid.

Kimberly however, I did like the writers for having the balls for having her be the abuser. Not something you'd see commonly. Sure, its out of character, but so is everyone else. Plus, it makes her more close to the "alpha popular girl" stereotype seen in most high school dramas. Then they went full edgy right in the climax again, I don't know about that. I think they fucked up.

I think they were trying to do the teenagers with attitude, but went with teenagers with angst. Most of it felt so forced in. Really says something when Dino Thunder had more realistic teenagers.

Lost Galaxy did a better job at that. I don't recall there being much Black Knight footage used. A lot of it was strictly zord footage too. Plenty of episodes were all American made. I think theres enough to do 15 more episodes atleast. Space can be like that too.

The "Green with evil" arc, obviously.
A) They tease Tommy in the mid-credits scene.
B) They already have a green-ranger suit designed (as worn by Rita in the intro scene), all they would have to do is make a masculine version and maybe add some gold armor on top (Implying they don't make Tommy a girl like some of the dumbshit cast have suggested)
C) Tommyfags will eat that shit up, unless they fuck it up serverely.

I don't think they'll touch anything S2 related until the third movie at the earliest. As if they'll get that far.

Green with evil is a nobrainer. They already teased and is one of the most popular arcs.
Here's the thing with making this a franchise: its based on exploiting 90s nostalgia for MMPR so we'll have to wait a bit to even think about Zeo, if we even get there(I know it has the Zeo crystal, but it also doubles as the shallow fanservice this movie liked so much). I think that toy-wise they will compensate by doing the same as transformers and MCU movies and change the suits a bit but still making them based on the ones we already have(with Green and probably eventually white being added).

Sequel is all about Tommy Oliver as the main villain probably being manipulated by Lord Zedd since its clear we've gone into fanfiction level writing with these movies. Tommy's gold armor and dagger is formed from the remnants of Rita's gold staff and Goldar mixing with the Dragon coin. His/her's zord is probably going to be given a major power boost because of its connetion to Goldar. At this point the ranger team have a good bond with each other and are naturally hesitant to the new green ranger. Green Ranger is obviously evil and being manipulated by Zedd who in some lame ass way reincorporates the candle motif to them being evil. The rangers fight the Goldar Zord as Red takes on Green directly. Red pulls a trick that restores Green to the good side while retroactively turning them into the White Ranger and the two team up to take on Zedd directly. They win obvious and the easter egg implies that Zedd is not actually dead and instead has found a way to revive Rita along with maybe like 1 other villain like Rito which would all be build up for the third movie

Green with Evil really is tailor-made for cinema. And it's not even a Tommy thing: villains that turn good tend to be fan-favorites.
I mean, look at DBZ. The entire cast of fighters plus Bulma minus Gohan were initially antagonists, three (maybe four if you count Tien) were straight-up villains.
