I want what >>15577942 mentioned, a show about the crew of the Sumeragi exploring space on the first deep space mission and trying to make peaceful first contacts while expanding scientific endeavors. I want a show that's mostly slice of life and explorative planet of the week stuff for the first 15/20 episodes, before the crew come across a new race and fuck up first contact. I want another 15/20 or so episodes of them trying to repair that relationship and prevent war and then a finish where the inevitable war happens but the crew attempt to negotiate a peaceful resolution out of the war. I want Turn-A mixed with Star Trek: The Next Generation basically.

The great thing about this is that, because of their immortality, you could set the story hundreds of years in the future and still be able to easily incorporate Setsuna and Tieria. Add in the descendants of Allelujah/Marie and Saji/Luise and you've got a good portion of the cast accounted for.
