For me it's combining a mecha action show with the harem formula.
>>15573582
Giants robots. I hate that shit.
Powerarmors, cool vehicles, cyborgs /m/ should stick to that short of thing
>>15573582
Nah, more like mecha with slice of life with some Iyashikei tones, mostly on the most chill episodes.
Children.
>>15573589
I have to agree. They are the most annoying characters more often than not.
>>15573582
>mecha action show with the harem formula.
Sorry for your bad taste
>>15573599
Harem antics ruined GBF Try
>>15573582
Vandread is my favorite harem anime and you can suck my dick.
>>15573582
I think everyone can agree that the worst thing about mecha is the sheer prevalence of slideshow fight scenes
>>15573615
Stock footage is the true evil though.
>>15573582
Hey, fuck you.
>>15573604
The haremshit in Try certainly ruined Fumina's character, but it's hardly the sole contributing factor to Try shitting the bed.
Most Newtypes. Two reasons.
Tension Killer/Plot Armor. Other than a few times when execution is done right, I never feel any danger comes to them and struggles/battles end up feeling hollow.
Space Autism. I understand the thought process behind unlikable characters but there's also the point I don't have enough content to be interested or invested in them. Ultimately stops me from caring about them and the story most of the time, even at the point when they die.
>>15573621
Stock footage can be good
Obligatory

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq76hroRE50
I'd post more, but no one's enough of a faggot to upload shit to Youtube
Anyway, stock footage can be tolerable. Fights getting resolved without seeing the combatants touch anything other than the ground is never tolerable
>>15573604
I don't think it was the cause of the ruining.
Also, may be harem antics can ruin something, but to do so the harem part has to be relevant enough to ruin the rest. I mean, having a couple of love interests but barely interacting with them and a third one that almost never appears its hardly "harem antics".
If they had expended the episodes rubbing their tits on his face...ok, but it barely was there.
I get why people gets mad at harems if it doesn't leave room for anything else, but I don't get why they get mad when its only a bit of it.
>>15573582
only bellows mattered
along with her R34
Was s2 ever dubbed?
Need to watch it
>>15573680
S2 of what?
When the mech gets hand animated for some scenes, and is CG in others.
Fucking pick one or the other, flip flopping between the two just makes you look like you're too shitty to do just one. It could look like ass for all I care, but at least stick to a consistent medium of animation please.
Only time I'll let it slide is during a clearly intentional style shift to a different form from the main animation medium.
>>15573685
Where has this been done?
countless mobile suit revisions that muck up google image searching with pintrest results.
>>15573599
Nadesico is the one show that pulled this off, because it had more going for it than boring harem shit.
>>15573582
>complain about harems
>post a pic without any
>>15573599
nadesico is the exception, not the rule.
>>15573626
>Stupid Uchuujin-san. It's not like I like you or anything... baka!
>>15573582
But there was no harem aspect to Gargantia at all, what the fuck
>>15573898
Is there really even a rule, though? Most mecha anime stop at love triangle if they even have romance plots, very few progress to full blown harem. I can only name a handful that do, nearly all of which I haven't watched
>>15573691
Macross Zero. The valks are CG most of the show, but there's a few scenes here and there that are hand-drawn, like in this one.
>>15573958
I guess I was more fixated on the cockpit interior scenes to notice. Seeing the 2D digital anime characters try to operate an early CG cockpit looked like total ass
>>15573882
>>15573954
These. People see a dude and attractive girls and automatically think harem. Amy's friends are certainly playful but nothing serious; Ledo and Amy are an item.
>>15573954
The closest thing to a harem in that show was the captain and her bitches. It's otherwise much more of a stealth advertisement for NEETs to go outside and get jobs.
>>15573955
Meanwhile Dual and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari count, but they are Tenchiverse series, so it's built-in to begin with in their cases.
>>15573582
Gargantia wasn't a harem.
>>15573584
>/m should stick to non mecha
I'm no purist but what the fuck.
Lolsorandom shit like TTGL and anything by Go Nagai
>>15573675
Too bad there's almost fucking nothing.
>>15574073
>Implying this is a board about mecha instead of a board about men in spandex and rubber suits
>>15573582
CGI robots
>>15574073
>I'm no purist but powered armor and cyborgs aren't /m/
>>15573582
Gargantia was neither, bruh.
Gargantia was not a harem though. Ledo/Amy, Pinion had Bellows and Miter, Melty and Saaya please old men for money.
>>15574157
I know what you mean, but I actually really liked the opening space battle a lot.
>>15574157
You're making Chamber sad.
>>15573582
There was no harem formula to this show. The original plan was to have S2 as the typical Urobutchi character killing. If you could not tell Amy was the primary love interest after the belly dancing then you are probably too stupid to watch Tomino shows too.
The other girl designs were around for fan service only.
>>15573582
>For me it's combining a mecha action show with the harem formula.
You must hate literally every robot anime from the last 10 years then. Just like the rest of us!
>>15573958
Which part of that was supposed to be hand-drawn? That looks like pure CG to me.
>>15574478
Exactly, that's how good the art is.
>>15573691
Fafner the movie and exodus
