Considering it's 10 years old has anyone Re-watched Dancouga

I saw it for the first time recently since we finally got subs for the DVDs

It was fairly mediocre, about on the same level as the original Dancouga. But it was a different kind of mediocre; the original suffered from abysmal budget and bad execution of interesting ideas. Nova just felt like a generic robot show going through the motions. Generic plot, cardboard characters, bland action scenes, continuity baiting that went nowhere, and overall nothing really notable about it aside from the theme song and the mecha design.

I honestly liked it better the 2nd time, Though I did notice that on the dvd release they added additional scenes that flesh out the story and characters more, which haven't been subbed sadly.

I think it's just as good as the original Dancouga with it's action, characters, and mech designs.

My only issue with it is that it could have used more episodes or at least the Nova Equivalent to God bless, cause it felt like it missed a part in the series.

This, and I think they should have used the episodes they were given more efficiently, too. The actual plot of the story doesn't even start until the end. They spent way too much time playing with terrorists and guerilla forces.

It also bugged me that Dancouga got its ass kicked practically every time Rock Yo Mind played.

Watched it for the 1st time maybe 2 years ago, it was decent fun, good music, pretty much a SRW fodder show

How was the budget? I'm maybe 60% through the original and the animation was pretty damn painful at points, didn't notice anything that blatant in Nova.

Someone did fix the DVD subs recently. Starseeker is also finishing Blazing Epilogue, so in a little while, all Dancouga media will be completely subbed.

Id put it just north of mediocre firmly into GOOD territory. It doesn't do anything new, but it does a lot right and has enough clever tricks to be entertaining and it has Aoi.

It's the perfect 6/10 show. It's not terrible, it's not great, but it's entertaining enough for what it is. It's big problem is how it feels like the show doesn't actually start until the last four episodes.
