It's HeyBot unironically the most high level mecha show in years?
With each new episode you keep wondering if the show is too stupid for you or you're too stupid for the show.
What is that dragon doing to the Mole?
>>15570908
Reference game 2 strong.
>>15570913
This is a show that has Franz Kafka, HP Lovecraft, Lethal Weapon and Bohemian Rapsody references IN A SINGLE EPISODE afterall and this wasn't even the weirdest one.
>>15570920
The weirdest thing is the oddly grimdark main plot with the bad end waiting at the corner.
>>15570928
Given that Tomioka is writing this, having an intense narrative isn't too unexpected. This is the same guy who brought card games in a fantasy world.
I'm from /a/ and I have a question. I'm 3 episodes in and I do not understand anything. Is it because of the references? Its like I understand the individual words they are saying, but when they put it in a sentence I lose the meaning. What do I have to watch before I can understand this?
>>15570957
About 50 years worth of books, anime, film, and music.
>just weeks after this they announced a Gokin
it was a sign
>>15570964
B-B-B-B-B-B-B-B-BATTLE HACKAS
>>15570957
You're not supposed to get half of the shit in this show, even if you'd be from Japan.
There are references to Muhammad Ali boxing matches from the 70s, Cologne newspaper hoaxes from 1950, Stephen King novels, old Japanese meme mangas, tons of wordplays and puns that don't work in English (hell, the junk food the show is shilling each episode basically can be misheard as "potato penis") and much, MUCH worse stuff that will make you ask how this got on air in the first place.
Is this like /m/'s Pripara?
>>15570987
This is /m/'s Bobobo.
It's average children's fare at best. Even just looking at recent children's shows, Gyrozetter was way better.
>>15570906
May be both are stupid
This is Heybot's voice actress, Shiori Izawa.
Say something nice about her.
>>15571009>you now realise that Heyboko and Pekeko have almost the same hairstyles as their VAs
>>15570996
The writer has been doing kid's shows for over 8 consecutive years, it'd be shocking if he wasn't suffering from a complete burnout and stopped giving a damn at this point. On top of this he'll have to work on 18 If at the same time soon.
>>15570963
And video games
>>15571009
God damn she's hot. Now I'm conflicted because of all the fart jokes she makes.
>>15571723
But that makes it even better
>>15571723
>>15572721
Makes you give respect to her in a sense, it must take a lot of sheer will to recite all those lines without bursting out laughing on a regular basis.
>>15570987
Pripara is /m/'s Pripara. Let's not pretend the people who watch Rider and Heybot aren't the same people watching Pripara and Cocotama.
>>15571407
You know you're watching something special when the show references Bahamut Lagoon, Panorama Cotton, Pocky & Rocky and Live A Live.
>>15571723
Shiori Izawa will never sit on your face and release an ass rumbling fart whilst screaming "HEYBOOOOOOO!" in Heybot's voice.
>>15573743
いいんだよ~
Is this like Keroro except on crack?
>>15573793
Post keroro boboboboetc
>>15573793
Kind of. It's like if Excel Saga, Bo7 and Medarot's adaptations all got into an orgy and this is the result.
>>15570964
Of all the things to reference they go with fucking Battle Hackers.
That's amazing.
>>15570987
PP isn't even as half as full as references, I don't think it's a good comparison.
What's everyone's favorite screw?
>>15576232
not even a question
>>15576232
Nori-nori~!
>>15570963
>>15570983
Too bad most anime watchers nowadays only watches popular things so they rated this badly since they don't know the references so most scenes will just look randumb aside Heybot being a "children" show (citation needed since children also won't understand most references)
>>15576232
Time-time screw.
>>15570996
>It's average children's fare
I fucking WISHED more children shows were like this.
>>15571009
have been a fan of Shiori Izawa since Witch Craft Works but I can't stand the stupid roles she gets
I mean I love her but I just couldn't watch Seiren and Kuzu no Honkai.
>>15570901
Unfortunately, yes.
>>15570996
>Gyrozetter was way better.
>>15570901
No, Daimidaler is.
>>15578255
Maybe you shouldn't make a show that banks itself solely on references then.
>>15582415
What fun would that be
This weeks episode is out on Nyaa
If I live under a rock and most likely will not get many of the references made, is Heybot still enjoyable?I already think it will be and is from the looks here but I'd like your take
>>15585063
There's also tons of actual gags and meta humor in it like an entire episode whereHeybot's soft vinyl toy version tries to murder him due to him being the least popular toy on the shelves, all while the Indian bootleg version attempts to highjack the show, resulting in probably the most surreal moment in the entire series so far.
>>15572742If I like Cocotama should I watch Pripara? The only other shoujo things I'm watching are Chi-chan and Precure. How prominent are the mascot characters?
>>15585063
There's more to it than just the references. If you like wordplay or slapstick humor you could also still enjoy it.
>>15571009
I kind of miss the days when voice actresses weren't required to be super cute. Hideous boxtrolls frequently have better voices but they also can't be permitted to see the light of day.
I guess it kind of started back in the 90s with idol voice actresses like Kikuko Inoue.
>>15579966
Decent porn for decent series
I feel bad for whoever the poor Crunchyroll wageslave was who had to translate Heybot
>>15586669
They are doing a pretty good job though...
>>15586586
>I kind of miss the days when voice actresses weren't required to be super cute
Have you seen many modern female seiyuu? If you think they are uniformly cute then you have some pretty low and wide standards.
>>15586689
He might get some stuff wrong, especially when they are related to references, but some of the shit he comes up with is nothing short of impressive.
>>15586926
He is part of a rare breed, alongside the people willing to translate Time Bokan stuff.
>>15586926
I also wonder if Crunchyroll even knew beforehand what they were getting into or if they just picked it up thinking it was some easily done throwaway Digimon/Medabots show.
>>15586945
They picked that and pic-related. Seems like someone over there must have been daring.
>>15586960
I miss having TB24 air the morning after Heybot. They go so well together. It's not the same since.
>>15587267
I know. The worst part is Heybot may end its airing before TB24 comes back from its hiatus. It ain't fair.
>>15587762
>may end its airing before TB24 comes back from its hiatus
Will end. The coming Summer season is Heybot!'s last cour and if TB24 was going to air it would have already been announced by now with as soon as things are.
Only chance of it happening is if BNP decides there's a split second season.
