1998 godzilla was so much better than the snorefest we got in 2014.
The buildup to his reveal was incredible and while the design was wanting and the climax lame the actual romping through new york was fun

It gets too much of a bad rep. Watch the cartoon. It's one of the best godzilla media you'll see even if you hated the 98 movie

The buildup was certainly strong. Shame about almost everything that came afterwards. Although, I it more entertaining that Godzilla 2014 [which fell flat after Cranston left the picture]. And G '98s soundtrack is definitely not shown enough love.

Lesson to be learned here: American filmmakers shouldn't style their Godzilla adaptations after Spielberg films. Godzilla 1998 was inspired by Jurassic Park and Godzilla 2014 was influenced by Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

But seriously, when will Spielberg get to direct a Godzilla film? And why not Quentin Tarantino? Isn't he a big fan of the genre?

Spielberg only directs sappy children's movies and boring political dramas these days. As for Tarantino, even if he is a fan, I think he only intends on doing a few more movies that he has planned out already. Robert Rodriguez likes kaiju I think, but I'm not sure how I feel about the guy who made Spy Kids making a Godzilla movie.

fuck i hope this wont be like that all the time. one of the reasons im looking forward to toho's alleged new vision is that they want to be like Alien and give different directors godzilla movies in their owns style (hopefully with better results)

Edwards got cucked with Star Wars. It's pretty obvious Rogue One was extensively reworked and he wasn't at the helm. Maybe it was for the best. The early portions of the film resembles his style the most and that's where the majority of the complaints were directed towards.

Pretty accurate.

Though, in the latter case, it's better than its immediate predecessors and one of the "darker" films in the series. So it's not surprising that it has it has an esteemed reputation within the fandom. Bonus points for its relationship to the original film.

And DAM was the last time we saw the dream team together. Too bad it was for such a lackluster film. A watered down Monster Zero.

I'm gonna be a few weeks without a computer or any other way to play videos other than my old ps3, I managed to watch the original Gamera and Pulgaresi, which are both on Youtube, but couldn't find any Goji.
Anyway please recommend me any kaiju film that you know can be watched in YT.
