Why didn't they just give Amuro a Zeta?

If we take Evolve into account, then he DID have a custom Zeta. Either he lost it or gave it up at some point.

If we're not, then that Re-GZ was all Londo Bell had to spare for Amuro for the 5th Luna encounter while the Nu was in development. Maybe he had to launch quickly and there was no time to request a better suit?

The Zeta was rekt at the end of ZZ by the Quin-mantha. Too expensive to repair.

The RE-GZ is actually a good mobile suit, as you can see at the beginning of CCA, Amuro was fighting evenly against Char in the Sazabi. The funnels and the psycoframe on the Nu gave Amuro more of an edge than the RE-GZ gave him.

The only advantage the Re-GZ has newer avionics and more maneuvering thrusters but less overall thrust. In every other way, it's inferior to the Zeta barring production cost, and also inferior to most of what NZ was fielding in the Neo Zeon war.

Fixed it. Gyunei was pretty much dead in a few moves if Char didn't interfere.

I would say that it was more of Amuro's piloting skill than anything else, though. The Re-GZ was easily useless once Kayra got it.

Didn't he try to get ahold of it in the pre-CCA events of Hi-Streamer but they wouldn't let him have it because the bio-sensor spooked him too much or something?

Has it ever been clarified how exactly the AEUG and the EFSF re-incorporated?

What do you mean? Logistically difficult to integrate into the EF military? Or were there problems with the aesthetics? That's not really a big deal either way, seeing as the AEUG were either using stolen/borrowed Federation equipment or were supplied by AE, they build a lot of stuff for the Federation anyway.

Seems like the surviving AEUG and Karaba personnel and assets were integrated back into the EFF as Londo Bell, seeing as Astonaige A lot of AEUG personnel originally came from the Federation forces anyway.

You could argue that Char wasn't really trying and was holding back though. Nonetheless, Gyunei definitely wasn't and he got properly wrecked so it still shows that Amuro in the ReGZ wasn't to be mocked. Then again, it's Amuro, we saw in Zeta what happened when you give him a plane...
