If it's stronger than modern tech it's not outdated regardless of whether it's ancient. It might have been forgotten, but that's not the same thing.

You're autistic, there is no two ways about it.
>>
>>15553382
seems to be a fairly common thing in mecha (lost tech).

FSS, the ancient machine messiahs are stronger than the modern mortar headds.
battletech: star league tech is somehow more powerful than the current ones

>War that encompasses all humanity
>monopolistic space and earth union vs literal who mercenary group from mars

this show is fucking trash
>>
>>15553485

Both world wars can be split in to two factions: Allies and Central Powers in World War 1 and Allies and Axis in World War II. All of those factions can be further divided in to multiple seperate factions if you wish, but so can a lot of factions within mecha.
>>
>>15553512
If anything, the problem is the amount of conflict involved; there being only two factions isn't as much of an issue as there being only one front the battle is waged on.
>>
>>15553443
It makes sense in a setting like Gun X Sword where technology regressed when they reached the prison planet and the 7 warden robots were designed to be much more advanced and powerful than anything the colonists had on order to subjugate them.
>>
>>15553512
people often forgets that there's plenty of countries that don't give a flying fucking fuck during WW1 and WW2
>>
>>15553532

It doesn't matter, they were still wars waged all around the world and encompassing huge swathes of humanity. Some people chose not to be involved, but so do some people in most fictional conflicts.
>>
>>15553523
makes sense to have the tech gap be that big.
>>
>>15553443
I don't mind this cliche much since it's usually justified. It's lost technology. In most cases the civilization goes through a dark age that wipes out the higher tech units. Crap units take their place as the society tries to recover, a non-crap unit from the more advanced past is discovered and put to use.

It's not by any means rare, but I do enjoy the concept of humanity experiencing a "Dark Age" in fiction. Throughout recorded history no matter how fucked up one part of the planet got, another part was chugging away, advancing civilization. The idea that war and strife could become so pervasive that we all just regress, and then are digging up artifacts from a better time... I dunno it's just a cool idea to me.

Or that "crap" units are more economically feasible and the higher spec unit is overkill. You can buy a car that goes 270mph tomorrow if you got the dosh, but most roads won't let you get above 80, and the ones that barely hit 130 have much better fuel economy. Normally this would be the case in gundam were it not for plot armour. You could likely make about 5-10 GM's on the budget of the White Devil and dollar for dollar, they'd be more efficient if individually weaker.
>>
>>15553609
Well, you need some balance. A million Balls would beat any force ever depicted in any UC era for a fairly low price, but you're not going to find a million idiots willing to get into them, and even if you did you'll lose a ton of units and experienced pilots for your next conflict.

But yes, mecha shows are usually pretty bad at showing any kind of 'holding ground' actions, retreats, supply logistics... so there's rarely a need to depict cost effective forces.

>>15553429
Going to need a citation for that, Mister Man.

>>
I don't see the contradictions here.

Just take >>15553218 for example
This is actually an interesting thing.

Way back when (60's and 70's?) contracts had to do real shake down test to show the thing worked before mass production contracts were signed. And earlier versions had to have working proof of concepts.

So the first ones were over engineered. In some cases, companies would basically cheat by building the prototype to the max. I have heard stories of companies actually switch out the whole aluminum frame with high performance titanium, or reformulating the fuel type to non-traditional blends just to "wow" the buyers. Of course the later ones were not as special and cost far less.

But now that we computer model our stuff and mostly only do sub component testing if that, we really don't make fully functioning prototypes like we use to. Sadly now it seems all you need is a nice digital picture and a few PhD saying it will outperform the competition to get in the bidding.

Bidding has always been political and arguably corrupt, but the times have changed the hows.

IBOfag kindly go back to ANN.
>>
>>15553681
Who would win: 1 million balls or one Unicorn Gundam (with no crystal bullshit)?
>>
>>15554045
The balls.
Without psychoframe magic all the RX-0 has is an i-field, lunar titanium armour and a formidable amount of thrust.
1 million Balls doing a saturation barrage with those cannons would certainly win, even if that beam magnum eviscerated 100 of them per shot.

The Dark Ages is mostly a pop culture meme. Most of antiquity knowledge was preserved and most definitely enough for another civilization to pick it up and straight up improve on it. And the dark ages weren't bereft of advancement, quite a few things were invented then just maybe not at an impressive rate.

>>15554203

The Turn-A and Turn-X soaked up a good bit of punishment from lesser weapons during the show, so they may be immune to ballistic shells like Balls would use. Even lesser Moonrace suits like the SUMO and WaDom seemed to be able to ignore them, and the FLAT straight up definitely could by simply using it's vibration function. The Turn-A itself is weird in that regard, since Harry was able to damage it with a, as far as we know, regular punch from his SUMO but later in the show it soaks up beam cannon fire and takes missile hits so it might just be a very specific form of damage it's okay against, it's armor become stronger over time or something different.

How big is the chance that an autist will steal a military aircraft in irl?
>>
>>15554928
one that's fueled, armed and ready to go? unlikely since combat aircraft usually aren't kept quite ready until they're meant to be used, there's different levels of combat alertness

but a tank? hell yeah it'll happen

Yep it usually counts as imprisonment and dishonorable discharge unless proven to be an accident. Same with pilots making unauthorized joy flights.
