Simple. What's your favorite Super Robot? Super Robot show or a Super Robot itself is up to you.
I myself enjoy Gurren Lagann. The show I mean. Though it's mechas aren't the best (Chouginga is the only good looking form of Gurren Lagann in my opinion.)
In terms of mecha themselves. I quite like Shin Getter Robo. It's hell of powerful and has a cool design that makes it look buff.

Getter is my favorite series hands down.
Favorite mecha is a toss up between Black Getter and the New Getter. It would be Black Getter hands down if it could open get.

My answer for both show and robot.
Iczer-1 wasn't my first /m/ show by any means, but it is the one that really hooked me into the genre and even though it's not quite the best OVA out there, it's still a personal favorite of mine since it is closest we have to The Thing in anime form and that movie definitely is my #1 pick for movies.
