I felt bad when the robot guys died, I liked them and their episode.

I thought the ending was okay. Not the worst thing ever and it had an actual conclusion.
Brace for shitposting though.

Uhh, so they just got sick of continuing the show right? I mean they just ended like a snap of the fingers. No epic show down between jack and aku, he just goes back in time and wastes Aku like he's future Trunks.

And Ashi disappearing makes no sense considering if she disappeared when Jack killed Aku why did the future Jack go to exist at all if he's just going to come back from it to kill Aku right after he was sent to the future in the first place. Seems like they knew the finale was lacking in drama so they just tossed that in there even though they knew it didn't make any sense.

I kinda liked that. Jack could either battle in another drawn out and exhausting fight against a full strength Aku that'd likely end with the demon escaping again or just grab the sword and zip back to the past with Aku-powered GF to finish off a nearly-dead Aku and be done with it.

That and the replaying the original intro were pretty good. Everything after, with the exception of seeing Jack kill Aku, was horrible. The first three episodes started great but Ashi literally dragged the show into complete garbage.

Because you have to work under the assumption, time travel stories require this because it's sloppy no matter what, that Aku future was the furthest point existing in the future or Jack is an anomaly and his point in time is singular. What is stupid is Ashi not dying immediately once Aku died.

I liked how quickly the fight ended once he got back to the past.
Them Gurren Lagan'ing Ashi was kind of expected and not nearly as fleshed out as I thought it'd be.
The ending in the forest with the ladybug gave me unexpected feels though. I don't think any other ending could have done that.
The quick recap at the end, though just a re-cut, was pretty neat, too. Kinda wish it had been like a short concept of how they originally wanted to end the show had they not had to deal with budget and time constraints.
First few episodes were absolute kino though

Its like any time travel story where they have to avert a horrible future. Of course if the future doesn't come to pass they don't go back to fix it. Just think of it like there aren't infinite timelines, just the regular timeline then an aborted timeline that was deleted. Since Jack is from the regular timeline originally he's fine. Since Ashi was from the aborted timeline she was not.

The sword is the only thing that can seriously injure/kill him. Immediately after the stone samurai beat down Aku catches his breath, fully regenerates, and then turns into a big storm cloud and unleashes a downpour of spikes onto everyone that takes out most of the army.

For something as Arthouse as Samurai Jack, we are lucky it tied up things as much as it did. If the original pitch was a half hour of Jack watching a ladybug, it wouldn't surprise me.

My biggest complaints with the series is Jack didn't really have any good fights other than in the first episode, and when he killed Aki's sisters.

Genndy wasn't prepared for the low episode count is my guess, hence the borked pacing.

i´ve read somewhere that ashi vanishing might be that she is just the tree at the end , like when aku was sealed in the old days , because she has to exist in order for jack to come back , therefore preventing the whole nia deal....unles they just COULDNT LET JACK HAVE THAT YOU MOTHER FUCKERS

The problem was Samurai Jack's ending was originally planned to be a 90 minute movie feature after CN dropped the original series.
Gennedy shit out two Hotel Transylvania movies in exchange for the option to make a SJ finale movie. When that didn't pan out, he opted for a Popeye movie instead. Then THAT got nix'd as well, so they just gave up on animating an ending and wrote one out for the IDW comic series instead.

Then Adult Swim stepped up and brought Jack home, but now they needed an alternate ending so the comicfags can't spoil everything. Also now Gennedy has stretch 90 minutes of content out into 10 cartoon episodes (on a deadline).
This is likely where Ashi and the Daughters came into play.

Pacing issues aside, I think it's as good an ending as one could hope for, all things considered. I'm okay with it and Gennedy can now move on with his laifu.

Also Jack is now probably an immortal. So that's pretty dope, too.

I liked that the mecha actually had an effect on Aku. Like, even though he can regenerate, it still ripped off his horns. That was sick. I still don't like its feet design, what with being "literally human feet wearing sandals".

It was okay. I thought they wouldn't want to animate the other characters in a big army scene but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think the ending was BAD, even if it's directly meant to evoke Gurren Lagann; it's just that it makes the 50 years Jack spent in the future almost completely irrelevant, and also due to the shorter runtime and lack of drama it feels less professional than Gurren Lagann's version. I'm pretty happy it's just finished, though.

Ashi was still very contrived, boring, and dragged the show down. Her and the romance were unnecessary, and the fact that she suddenly had all the powers of Aku (at apparently the same magnitude) followed by her being the one who sends Jack back just felt insulting.

She really comes off like some manner of self insert/Mary Sue, I know those words have lost a lot of meaning online but she literally had no faults. Not to mention the fact they broke her perception of reality with a tree and a ladybug, apparently that's enough to shift her paradigm.
