I liked some of what he added. Like there's a little more of Israfel establishing they were instantly recovering from any damage they didn't both have, better rationalizing why they had to be fought like that. That's cool, that feels like something cut from the episode.

That was Gendo being dumb, he had Shinji brought straight from the infirmary as soon as he woke up instead of handcuffed after a few days in solitary. Manga makes all the adult characters twice as nuts.
