The Aries is the thing I like most about Wing so far. I'd also like a 1/144 kit for it.

My favorite grunt suit is the Dom. My reasoning is self-centered and weird, but it is what it is. I play kendo, and when I realized that the Dom is basically a kendo player turned into a mobile suit I took an interest in it.

Adele were a fantastic looking grunt suit.

AGE was a weird show. All the gundams looked like trash. The villain mechs sucked...(the show was 100% forgettable)

For me it's the Gouf Custom. You won't find a more perfectly designed OYW grunt suit, in my opinion. It's just got everything going for it: that classic Zaku silhouette, but its own identity as well. To me it feels like the best evolution of the original mobile suit, even if performance and utility-wise the Dom outclasses it.

The only bulk the base GM III has is on the knees/calves, and even the Full Armor variant in Unicorn doesn't add much except some more stuff on the shoulders and waist. It's not a particularly bulky design, unless your standard is the Correl from X or something.

Can you really count them as a grunt suit when they're (a) not piloted at all but bits and (b) only high skill people in a more limited production unit can use the bits in the first place?

The Gundam X is usually referred to as a mass produced unit, but given the opening and amount seen in the show it always came across to me as a limited production unit (along with the Airmaster and Leopard) with perhaps mass production of it's Bit partners.

The Tallgeese is presented as the proof of concept for mobile suits in Wing, but it is too expensive to mass produce. Thus they strip its design down and develop the Leo.
Virgo's are based partially on the Leo, but also on developments made with the Mercurius and Vayeate (in addition to having the Mobile Doll program being the norm for their pilot).
But none of that matters because Taurus is the best suit in Wing.

I actually really like the Graze, and am a little irritated about how consistently it jobbed against anything that wasn't mobile wokers or handicapped factory workers. Towards the end of the series it became apparent that they were designed specifically to fuck things up with shoulder-mounted Dansleifs instead of doing any real fighting. The fatman rodi has done a surprisingly good job of working its way up as the best grunt design from that show as a result.

The vanilla RGM-79 GM outstrips the Zaku in nearly every way, is on par with Rick Doms, and by the time Gelgoogs came into the picture GM pilots were experienced enough and Gelgoog pilots too young to stand against them, and to top it all off GMs outnumbered Zeon MS. The GM frame was upgraded and kept in use for years and typically served quite well- how would wars be won if GMs weren't doing the dirty work offscreen?

Add on top of that the versatility and sheer number of variants on the single frame, the GM was a reliable and effective suit. It jobs onscreen because that is its designated purpose.
