Metalder's Mazda is a better car than Juspion's Mazda (RX-7 1985). However, I think Jiraiya's Black Storm (Nissan 300 ZX) and Jiban's Leson (Pontiac Trans) are better.

People like Winspector's Winsquad (Chevrolet Camaro) and Sol Lider (Toyota Sera), but I'm not a big fan.

I actually like Solbrain's SolGallop more than the Chevrolet Z-28 from Winspector, the Toyota Sera is a really cool looking model. But they never showed a transformation scene for it on the show, even though it clearly gets a bulletproof dome and other special abilities. Winspector had much better car chases than Solbrain did. There was like one episode where they went out to That Quarry and did some donuts but it was nowhere near as good as Winspector's car stunt scenes.

Shaider, you mean? It's quite an effort. It's basically a complete resub. The subs that exist are, from my understanding, a translation of the Filipino Tagalog dub that exists. I did the Christmas episode, and what's being said in the subs is very frequently 100% different from what's actually being said in Japanese. They're not crabsticks, the English is good, but they're not accurate.

Yeah. I think she was the best female sidekick from Space Cops. Beautiful actress, nice personality and better character design/uniform. Annie from Shaider did A LOT of action scenes, but I don't like the "cowgirl" dress. Mimi from Gavan was terrible, her design is totally based on 70's design, pretty out-of-place comparing to others. Anri have an "older-sister-relationship" with Juspion, specially in the very beginning.

Too bad Toei give a metal suit only to Diana, in Spielban, 4 years later... Lili could be a nice metal heroine.

Gavan, Juspion or Winspector (then Solbrain).

Gavan is the oldest show, has some (few) 70's designs like some Showa Riders. Nothing explicit, but it's the most "dated" MH, together with Sharivan. Because of that, maybe you don't like much.

Winspector is nice, more funny vibe and no monsters, only criminals. Avoid it only if you don't like cop shows.

In the end, I think Juspion is for you: modern designs, great enemies, plot around magic stuff and the plus of kaiju battles.

Ohba is the best actor of the entire sub-genre. However, in general, Sharivan is "more cop" than Gavan, while Shaider has a slightly better choreography. In essence, Gavan is more popular because it was the pioneer of the genre - and Toei force it since 2012.

Juspion, for example, despite the lower numbers, is much less repetitive and got a bigger production.

It looks like production tried to push the limits a bit more, with movement in both layers (Space Cops, in general, used 1 animated layer + 1 fixed layer). But chroma wasn't developed enough to mix 5 ninjas in the same scene (or detailed big frames like the iron wolf) at that time. Just finished watching Metalder this weekend and I have to say it's an AWESOME show; really liked the characters (based Top Gunder), the serious theme was interesting to see in a childrens show, really liked the drama, the suits and fights were pretty cool and the OST was great. Also that ending... ;_; NEVA GIVE UP fuck i'm depressed now.

Congratulations. Metalder is a great show. Unlike Space Cops and Juspion-Spielban, was the first one Toei really tried to do different things (no space origin, cyborg MC, man x army). Unfortunately, was the MH with lowest numbers, reason why got only 39 episodes. Pretty sad to be honest.
