If you want variety, play a higher cost bracket you fuck. There's already a wide variety of suits in the 300, 400 and 500 brackets.
Low-cost suits have never been particularly unique in any VS game outside of a very small minority (Hidolfr, EZ8, etc.) BECAUSE they're low cost. If you spread their shit thin with gimmicks, most of the time they'll just be weak as piss or too strong for their bracket.

The point of most 200's is to provide support while reducing the impact of overcosts if they occur.

Lack of AU isn't the issue. you could throw in some obscure UC stuff with a more varied moveset. Keep the BD1, keep the Efreet, throw in the Woundwort or something. EX-S would make for a decent addition since it has the long-range, 500 niche to fill. Alex would bring something fresh with it being the only suit that plays around it's armor.

At the end of the day Versus IS a competitive vidya series and a roster tocked with generic grunts do not make for varied gameplay and keep the competitive scene from going stale.

Well, this is the first game in a "new generation" of the Gundam vs. series and historically the rosters of those tend to be really really shit. Take a look at the original GvG or EXVS and like they're really bad.
Knowing (((bamco))) they're gonna put the flashier suits and some of the cooler side story ones as DLC for sure, and for the rest you know they're just gonna port the rest of the fucking MBON ones in the Deluxe edition.
All in all this is nothing new just typical (((bamco))) jewery, not sure why everyone is so upset

Assuming the predictions are true, why would anyone use a generic 300 over Exia? In some sense, this is simlar to the Banshee Norn in FB. For people playing competitively, which is a good bulk of the playerbase, why would anyone pick an average suit over a superior one like Norn.

Why would anyone use generic beam rifle suit like Jesta over something like Exia which has a whole host of tools to play around with? When you fill up a large percentage with generic suits, this issue is highlighted even further.
