Names are a strange thing to deal with. Natively, they will sound strange to non-speakers of the language, but people from different nations often keep their original name instead of adapting a new one. As fictional characters, there is likely wordplay or symbolism that is involved in their name, so retaining it in the original language will make this aspect lost unless you go "TR NOTE" often. The main issue with "Warring Driver" is that it's not a literal translation of "Sengoku Driver".

Sengoku means Warring States, so it should have been "Warring States Driver". Cutting off the "States" and calling it "Translation"... isn't a translation.

Now, people also need to realize that there was nothing wrong with translating "Sengoku". It still made sense metaphorically, as the Drivers were meant to be the fire, which sparkled the war between the dance groups. We didn't know it was Ryouma's surname, who named the Driver after himself. But IIRC Azir still kept the "Warring Driver" and used "Warring Ryouma", so that was a pretty choice of Magenta, and he just didn't want to lose.

Nuance defines ones character which words they use tells us about what kind of person that is.
Vanish instead of die, could mean reluctance in excepting someone died, uncertainty whether someone is dead, or manipulative pr words to make things sound less bad.

Extinct means over exaggerations mostly villain monologue types of deals. trying to get the point across there is literally no coming back or referring to not even a dust of bones left.

I'm the anon who quoted all of that. I'll tell you this...

Death occurs the moment a physical body fails to keep itself alive. Then, religion comes in and speaks of an afterlife, in which the dead forcefully end up in. In Ghost, it's assumed that afterlife exists, since Takeru did meet his dead father pre-Boost.

We DON'T know if Takeru TRULY died in the first episode. What we know is that Takeru uses a word that means both death and vanish, and we know that his body was missing. We do know that Sage got his body and placed it in a chamber. We also do know that Takeru could have been easily saved pre-Boost.

So no one knows for sure what happened in the first episode. He could have been killed (biologically) but Ganma magic fixed his body and somehow kept the soul before it went bye-bye. OR, he could have just been critically injured and not truly killed like stupid Takeru says. So we can't know what happened there for SURE.


Now, his first SURE death happened pre-Boost. Case closed. Sage couldn't help him and Takeru met his father. Pretty logical to be death. He only "vanished" because his body was in a ganma chamber and he was projected as a "ghost", just like the other ganma.


The rest? Well, he never had a physical body till the end of the show. So without a physical body, there's no death. But if you take religion in there (hence, afterlife), you could argue that death occurs when someone forcefully ends up in the afterlife. So it's up to the individual to decide whether he was vanishing or dying. There's no absolute answer.
