IIRC, one of the producers of Kyoryuger said the reason there was no "KyoryuYellow" is because they didn't want to add more girls to the team and because a male yellow would be perceived as too "feminine" to kids.

He quoted JAKQ and Changeman as examples of how it's okay to do shows without a yellow, but also conveniently forgot that there were more male yellows than female. Still are.

I had low expectations watching Gaoranger and Go-Onger after reading not so stellar reviews but I was surprised that I ended up loving both shows.

Fandom hates it due to the dumbing down after the first few episodes. It'd never kill Sentai though due to the extremely high toy sales. If anything Carranger might have come closer, since it still had low ratings and didn't have the same toysales. They changed Sentai's timeslot after the beginning of Megaranger. So, if they couldn't find a new one there Carranger might have been the one that actually killed the series for a while.

It's rather bipolar at times, but fairly alright. Besides, the toy sales have been good enough that they never considered cancelling SS anyway, so it's not really a JAKQ case. Heck, MFC's first release page for the show didn't mention anything about a cancellation threat.

What gets me is that the lowest-rated Sentai episode in history at the time was White Racer's introduction. It really puts into perspective how much Fushigi Comedy completely disappeared from relevance as a franchise, since a big writer from that worked on Carranger.

If the actors managed to convince Toei to make a new Carranger special, it would be a miracle.
