Honestly, he wasn't even necessarily bad. The Murder Manlet didn't get on my nerves up until he suddenly decides he wants babies and fucks Atra off-screen. And yet his character still was overly stoic and barely changed despite trying to keep everyone alive rather than go for vengeful war, and despite the implications of hating the violence he was so used to doing. It's like they wanted to be subtle about it but instead resulted in a character who's actions and emotions didn't quite link up right.

I only place him above Kira on the principle that where Kira became Jesus practically and can somehow take out armies without a single kill at that point, Mikazuki was a killer to the bitter end and went down fighting like he always had.

That being said, I found him to be amusing enough. Being an emotionally flat killing machine might not make for a great character arc, but it's a great engine to power some crazy action scenes.

Kira the hypocrite, banana, fucking jegan how're you and THESE ARE WARNING SHOTS are much worse. Mikazuki at his worst is dull but tolerable, and most of the series he's entertaining, the others I listed are absolute trash that make the series they're in unbearable.

I don't get the hate for Mika. He is a cold, callous killing machine. That is his character. He is supplemented by the rest of the Tekkadan crew who are shown in the limelight just as much. IBO is about the collective, not the singular.

But i think his credibility is lost when Orga is ded and he heard of the news. It's clashing to his sometimes caring demeanor (Yes, he has it. Though it's not obvious. Pretty subtle). On that, He heard about the death of his most close companion, And he went "lol k, let's have our revenge". He never broke into any sort of emotion that is natural among human. So he just become a slate. At least Setsuna had emotional reaction despite his stoicism and Heero stepped out of his stoic demanor when it comes to Relena or something.

Too bad his character is bad and never grows. And he cant be supplemented by the rest of the Tekkadan crew when that very crew also consists of one note characters that are just in the background for most of the series. The characters that provide some interesting development for themselves are put in the spotlight for a bit and either killed(Biscuit), leave the show(Takaki) or completely absorbed in the background and never really addressed again(Akihiro).

I think one of the biggest things about Mikazuki isn't his character, it's the effect his character has on others.
