I honestly would like to see how a gundam series would use religious imagery, we were close with IBO but they didn't do anyhting with it.
Gundam tends to look at religion only when making parallels to modern-day extremism, and how it affects geopolitical regions.
It's never done anything like Eva where the imagery is used for aesthetic purposes or E7 where it's used for thematic plot elements.

That's what 8th MS should have been but instead we have a bunch of Gundams that shouldn't exist deployed in the environment most likely to get them destroyed. Great OVA, for sure, probably one of the better Gundam anime's you can watch, but a missed opportunity in any case.
