I really hope this counts as /m/. I mean it's all just Tokusetsu on a Hollywood Blockbuster budget
Just saw Kong Skull Island for the second time and I gotta say there's a lot more foreshadowing for what's to come than I remember:
>Opening theory that the American and Japanese Soldier's skirmish is foreshadowing for the Kong versus Godzilla movie
>John Goodman's ship was destroyed by Godzilla
>John C Reilly's character says a Tiger would beat a Cub in a fight since a Cub is a baby bear
>John C Reilly's character says that Kong is still growing
>Skull Island comics are set in modern day and have a military group searching for Mutos on the Island
I've also heard a lot about how the next Godzilla movie will be set in the 90's and how it will act as a springboard for the upcoming Kong Crossover movie. Does that mean the '14 movie is being soft rebooted? That one ended with a Mothra easter egg which is kinda irrelevant now since Skull Island's easter egg pretty much confirmed that everyone's going to meet up and duke it out so it's kind of backtracking if like 40 years in the future they have to . And if they make a prequel Godzilla movie there's no real way they can connect it to the '14 movie since that one kept the existence of Godzilla under wraps to the general public. How do you keep a Godzilla encounter in the 90's entirely out of the eye of the public?
one of my main complaints about godzilla 2014 was that Godzilla was a hero, so if they make a movie set in the 90s and he is a threat it might change my opinion a bit. Since Godzilla should always be a threat in his debut movie imo

I don't think you need to make him out as bad guy as much as you do a living disaster. The end of the movie should have Godzilla defeating whatever monster woke him from his sleep but at the cost of every living thing in a hundred mile radius. Sure, Godzilla's fighting for peace but he's also a destructive force of nature which gives a lot of contrast to Kong who is flat out the hero we deserve despite how badly mankind likes to fuck him up

Yeah, this is a good idea

Oh dear, I don't remember the Mothra easter egg at all. Remind me?

When they go to investigate the abandoned power plant there camera panned across a terrarium that read "Mothra."
>>15513660
Yeah, that. OP made it sound like there was one at the end?
>>15513564
There's already a Godzilla thread

There's isn't really a need for more threads, there's not that much activity.
Fug, I only have little highlights from the Skull Island comic, but here you go:

In the Japanese cut of the film they added a very blatant easter egg that confirmed the existence of Mothra

Even more reason to hunt the Japanese BDs because the American BDs were apparently all the special "Black Angus Blackburger Printed on Typewriter Ribbon" edition.

The US BD sucks because it's one of those cheap ass ines WB likes to put out where the menu icons are the same on every one.
