Xebec always makes the most jarring decisions for these sorts of productions. I'm not sure if many people here remember Broken Blade, but if you watch that and then any of the Fafnirs you'll see what their standards are. Yamato 2199 was a freak success.

Their illustration is usually very good, but I only rarely feel invested in the characters they portray with it.

It feels like its missing its soul, it's just there.

Also there's too much of that awful CGI, I could deal with it before when most of the screentime went to the characters but here it felt too much like watching a very very bad PS2 cutscene.
