***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

**MELEE GROUP BUILD**
Build/paint a robot with a loadout focused on melee combat! Anything from shields to swords to lances to axes to bare fists is fair game. There's no room for ranged weaponry here, however, so anything resembling a rifle, Rocket Launcher, cannon, pistol, or any other ranged weapon is a no-go (Small ranged weapons that are built into the kit itself like head vulcans are ok, however).
More clarification here:
>If the body part has a built-in ranged weapon (head/chest vulcans, claw beams, etc), then that's fine. If it's a separate part like the Alex's arm vulcans it's best to leave those off.
>Melee weapons with in-universe ranged capabilities (Like the Kimaris's lance or the Gyan's shield) are fair game too.
>Any scale and any brand is fair game here, you're not limited to just using Gundams this time around.

How do you guys stop yourselves from the instant gratification of snap fitting? Shit is really tempting to just put it together and call it a day, but I know I can make something amazing in the end if I put more effort into it

>>15510267
I know I'll have to order another batch of shit if I run out quickly so I want to make each kit last as long as possible to avoid spending too much.
This way the airbrush setup felt like an investment rather than an expense.
>>15510267
Being a snapbuilder, I'm happy enough with a standard build.
>>15510267
I don't have the time, the place or the will to get into paiting, so most of the time I'll just panel line and use stickers, and that's it.
i want tomake love toGundam Ez-8.
>>15510267
I only really get that way with select RGs and MGs. But even then I spend WAY to much time cleaning up nubs.
>>15510267
Simple, you buy doubles. One for the instant snap fitting gratification with the peace of mind that there's another kit should you want to do the sanding and painting and modding. But in reality the second kit is just going to sit there for years collecting dust.
>>15510343
It's a really unique design for a Gundam. Probably my favorite
>>15510267
I like to snap kits and leave slightly raised nubs (so I don't gouge) and no stickers, that way I can see how the kit goes together and have the fun of a build, but then go back and do the kit seriously if I want to paint it. I don't really display anything that's not painted though. Some kits grow on you when you put it together, so it's kind of like "tryouts" for the kit to see if I want to put the full work in.
Going to have the hi-mock as my first airbrushed kit for the sake of practicing, give me your silliest colour schemes.

Finished my Full Armor Thunderbolt Gundam and really love how this guy looks. Was shocked that he was able to stand well on the ground given that huge backpack of his. Definitely gonna go back and paint some of the details for this guy, since a lot of the red thruster stickers annoyed the hell out of me and I didn't bother with them.
>>15510424
it's a really great design, my favorite as well
>>15510267
Well the finished project looks way better. It's also economics. I spend less way money on kits now that I paint them then I did when I could just quickly snap them together and call it a day.

H I - M O C K
I'm not super keen on visual design but this is the general idea for my first painting job for a model
Can I get some honest criticism on this?
What are some good tips for beginners?
I have a friend who just started building, and what he does is whenever he cuts out a piece, he takes a red sharpie and colors the nub marks to make sure he removes them later.
>>15510617
Nipper -> knife -> sand. Don't start on the next piece until you are done.
I don't think there's much else to say.
>>15510604
what do you think about something like this? i think the color scheme is awesome, but the heavy concentration of blue would look weird with the chest that Ez-8 has.
>>15510604
My only concern would be that if the head is that dark around the other dark portions you'll lose a lot of the detail in the face and the mouth part will stick out very strongly. I took a shot at some little changes.
I think in general you avoided the temptation to add little blue and yellow bits everywhere, which is good. People often do with png lineart because it feels easy with the paintbucket.
>>15510619
What's the point of sanding after shaving the nub remains down with a knife?
>>15510624
>>15510630
I really like these redesigns, thanks for the help!

(Previous Thread):
I meant to ask about the whole zig zaggy inner frame look: Do people cut it as a whole single piece from a sheet, or do they move a whole bunch of 1mm strips into place?
And how do you do it on the inner sides of irregularly shaped pieces, like the inside of a curve?
>>15510651
arranging strips on top is absolutely the way to do this look
they actually sell half-round rod that would be perfect for this. You could even do the small connection portions by cutting small tube in an O shape and connecting it with split rod
>>15510445
>>15510604
Go for the Harrison Madden F91 scheme
>>15510641
To actually make it flat. Doing a perfect job with a knife alone is basically impossible. You could skip the knife completely and just sand the whole way but I prefer removing ~90% of the nub with the knife and then sanding.
>>15510641
99% of the time you are not going to be able to cut it perfectly flush with the knife. The nife is just remove the bulk of the remaining nub. The paper is their to sand off the rest and make it smooth and level.
>>15510693
>that 1 in 100 cut where it IS perfect with the knife
is there a better feeling?
>>15510267
I just panel line and use stickers. I'm happy with that much. Panel lining alone can make a world of difference.
>>15510729
I absolutely love, and I mean love, the feeling of twisting polycaps off the runner.
Are there any generals on this site with better OPs than us?
>>15510801
the /fgg/ pastebin is really nice, but i think this ones is the best
>tfw slightly too humid so orange peel that you're going to have to sand off
>>15510693
When sanding nubs, how do you prevent the plastic from being discolored due to sanding?
That's basically my biggest problem with sanding stuff down
>>15510807
No pastebin is more important than the List of Cucks
>>15510817
Flat coat hides it basically.
Or paint.
>>15510820
oh fuck you're right, i forgot about that.
>>15510817
You mean when it's white or when it ends up darker?
If it's white then the plastic is being stressed and you should cut further away from the part before sanding the rest, and sometimes scratching at it with your fingernail can eliminate it.
If it's darker then that's just a byproduct of the injection molding process and you sanded correctly, but otherwise can really only be hid by painting. A flat topcoat can help somewhat.
>>15510817
Where it's darker then the surrounding plastic? That's from the injection process, you need to paint to get rid of it. I know that feel though, gray and dark blues are the bane of my existence for that sole reason.
>>15510833
My Unicorn has some terrible blemishing on the feet and backpack from my first try at sanding. Dark blue just always ends up looking horrible for me.
Do you guys know where I can find those small little metal bowl/plate things for mixing paint?
Is a metallic nail finer (you know, the one you find on nail clippers) okay to remove nubs completely ? I don't have any sanding paper
For such an old kit, the MG Ez-8 has a lot of really nice mechanical detail.
>>15510856
I wouldn't do that. That's more like using a file than sandpaper. Just got get some 800, 1000, and 2000 grit paper and save yourself the heartache.
A good file helps a lot though.

>>15510979
Really?
JustREAD THE GUIDE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>15510975
Micro Mesh pads are an absolute life saver. I find depending on the plastic I can cut flush with a pair of God Hands then hit it the nub with a 1500 grid pad and have it look perfect. While I can't always do it, it makes white plastics an absolute breeze.
>>15510988
>it makes white plastics an absolute breeze.
I've found they keep blues looking the best, honestly. Also the "tougher" plastics.
I spend too long polisheing probably, but by the time I'm done it almost always has a nice sheen and is completely healed.
>>15510993
Yeah, when I was building the RG Sinanju I work up from 1500 to the 12000 pad to get the glossy look back. Worked like a charm, but that kit had some very easy to work with plastic. Some other kits I have to do a bit of filing before I get to sand with the pads. But they're wonderful for also not flattening out curves like a solid sanding stick might.
>>15511009
Ah, they're so great.
And they last forever.
Mad thanks to the Anon/s that were pushing them hard a year or so ago.
Is the head joint on the hi mock swappable or compatible with any other kits?
>>15510267
I'm alright with snapbuilding an HG in about 2-3 hours while watching a show in the background, I'll do the usual nub sanding on the kit along with decals/stickers if I decide I'm not doing more than lining/topcoat later on. If I decide to paint it in the future I'll leave the stickers aside (Asides from eye stickers usually)
The Build Burning/Deathscythe in this pic are gonna be painted up but I'm just leaving them straightbuilt for now (The Deathscythe has a few mods on the skirt/shoulders for posing/etc)
>>15511022
yeah, it's a standard head joint with an extra nub thing to lock the head in place so it doesn't wobble, if you want to put the head on another kit you can just cut it off, and if you want to give hi-mock someone else's head it'll look a bit small but it'll fit
>>15510669
So to do that whole inner frame, industrial, Aaron Beck-like look, I have to nudge the FLAT, tiny plastic bars into position, and not cut out everything in one go as a single piece?
Pic related for reference.

Just speculation. We know that Bandai hinted at making another MG GM back during Winter's Gunpla Expo, but that's about it. GM III seems very likely after the GM II and ZZ ver. Ka, and the RE/100 Bawoo and Hamma Hamma.
Mostly just wondering if Derringer was hinting at something or just joking >>15502844
Has anyone ever used krylon to paint their kit? I've got a bunch of matte krylon that I use for outdoor projects, and on a whim decided to try it on some spare parts I've had lying around. It seems to adhere to primer better than the Testor's I was using before.
I'm practicing on some old parts before I do my first real paint project, and wondered if there's anything wrong with using Krylon.
Is there a noticeable difference in the quality of these paints or their evenness of distribution?
>>15511155
Go with the hexagons
>>15511194
Should note, this is the Krylon type in particular.

Partly because if it does, the fed version should be standard and AEUG the p-bandai.
>>15511291
What's the difference between these micromeshes and my MemeHands sponge sticks (very floppy) of similar grit nmbers?
>>15511296
No clue, I should try the sponge sticks at some point to compare. Always looking for ways to make easier when it comes to nubs.
>>15511292
White Dingo Sniper II was P-Bandai. It's unprecedented for an exclusive Gunpla to get a regular release.
>>15511306
These ones:

They're very, very soft and flexible. As you can see it goes up from 4k to 10k
dubs that they're announcing MG tryon 3
>>15511317
The mesh pads are rigid yet have give to them. But they don't flip around at all.
>>15511306
Hobbysearch and HLJ stock them in various thicknesses (I guess the thinner, the more flexible?)
Can anybody recommend a brand of cheap sanding sticks? Squadron tri-grits are getting expensive.
Thinking of picking up pic related. Anyone has this kit, and if so how was it?
>>15511396
Awesome kit overall, but it has way too many stickers in important areas. Honestly requires painting to look good
>>15511396
Get the MG instead, it's cheap and very good.
>>15511396
Shoulder joints are very loose on mine, but that's nothing some Future can't fix. Otherwise is fine. Very small, but that's to be expected from a late UC suit.
>>15511412
>>15511414
>>15511423
Thanks for the info. It'll probably work as more practice for my painting skills due to the stickers
>>15511194
It can be done, but you have to be VERY careful with distance and timing.
The paint itself is pretty sturdy, but it can get thick really fast because it's designed for life size objects and not scale models.
>>15511440
I've been testing them out on some other parts, and it's looking pretty good. I'll probably start cleaning off the parts I actually want to paint and prime them later tonight. I think the Krylon will closer to what I want anyways.
Alright, now that I've built up a small army of gunpla I am running into an issue I am ill-equipped to deal with. How do I combat the dust menace? Cloth catches on everything and there are nooks and crannies that evade the finest brushes. Blasting them with water only makes them redust faster.
Any advice on coping with this particulate menace?
>>15511541
anon, you need to actually finish your kits before you worry about dust.
>>15511544
That kit in particular is very old and one of the first gunpla I ever made. Several changes of address have not been kind to it.
I keep telling myself one day I'll restore it. At the same time it serves as a nice keepsake as is.

Dude on another forum that legit works for Sunrise dropped some hints ahead of the hobby show.
At first it was just three words: G-Self, Marute, and Reborn.
Didn't give much further clarification:
"Whether or not some of this is Gunpla related is up for you to ponder and find out.
There is a lot of G-Self promotional work with Akiman, and will that translate to a kit soon I wonder? Is there a finished prototype coming too? More news on our animation project?
There is a prototype of the MG Harute was planned back since 2012 now with more details and full Marute LED transformation. Will there be a special prototype showing too?
What does Reborn mean? Formula?"
If no GM I riot
>>15511049
You could do it either way, but I would much rather do the bars step by step than trying to cut a super accurate single piece with many tiny shapes to be cut out

When painting a kit, do decals go on before any topcoating?
>>15511693
sorry for wording, i am doing seam welding before priming and paint
>>15511708
Yes. Topcoating seals in and protects the decals
>>15511708
If by topcoat you mean a clear coat, you definitely want to do a gloss clearcoat before you do decals. If you are doing a wash, I would do that before you put the decals on. You can even do another light gloss over the top of the washed part to be extra safe.
>>15511708
If you meant matte "topcoat" you do that last in almost all circumstances
>>15511711
Gracias. I'm about to take the plunge. Wish me luck.
>>15511725
I've got a semi gloss that is thought of doing prior to decals. I knew matte coat came last of all. Is semi okay? This is just a straight paint job using aerosol and maybe some weathering.
>>15511628
Know what the Harute is but doesn't know the Reborns lol
>>15511737
>Is semi okay?
Think it though, do you know how the matting agent in paints work?
>>15511664
He's talking about NeoGaf.
>>15511752
No. That's why I'm asking people that do
>>15511737
Maybe, do you have any decal softener? You might get silvering on your decals if you don't have a gloss surface
>>15511782
I don't. I can always just get some gloss top coat instead of trying to experiment with the semi.
>>15511577
I didn't ask for these feels anon...
>>15511645
Is it just me or do people not really bother anymore puttying/filling the gaps between the individual bars?
>>15511782
Will decal softener work on those transparent decals on RGs, or do you have to build up a clearcoat layer around the sticker edge to be high enough to hide it?
>>15511787
Yeah, that's a good idea. Here's why it matters:
Decals are flat like this _____________
gloss coat is too: _______________
So they lay flat together
mate coat is like this: /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
semigloss is kind of like: mmmmmmm
So the gaps between the flat decal and the small ridges are what makes you get silvering.
>>15511801
RGs come with stickers not actual decals. They're going to look like stickers pretty much no matter what you do. You would need a ton of coats of clear and sanding to make it the same height as the sticker, and if you fuck it up you'll sand your sticker and it's gg.
>>15511833
Noted. Thanks again.
I'm the guy trying to paint >>15511155
I've got three different greens I can use. The round piece is a brown that I plan on using. If anyone wants to chip in and help me decide on a green, that's be nice. I'm thinking the rightmost one.
Destiny Gundam in Athrun colors looks good.
Finally found some matte top coat in my area, in an office depot of all places. Its not perfect, but it removed most of the glossy look that bothered me so that's enough to make me happy!
>>15509987
What is that? I want it just for that big ass sword thing
>>15511756
>NeoGaf.
Confirmed fake then.
>>15511873
I swear Destiny in any colors other than the stock makes it look at least 3 times better. Even just straight up gray and black.
>>15511833
Holy fuck, that is an amazing way of explaining it. I didnt know gloss actually sat.......chemicalyflat?...........and I didnt know mate had texture. thanks anon.
>>15512016
well as weird as it sounds, if you touch as surface that has a matte/flat finish vs a gloss finish, they feel different
>>15511848
So I'm at an impasse. Of the 3 greens in this comment, which would look better? I like the rightmost, but i feel like the brighter one in the middle would pop a little more and show panel lining better.
Should that even be a consideration, or should I just go with the darker one?
Where them LEAKS?
>>15511884
I know who anon was talking about and he's an actual employee with Sunrise.
But you apparently have some bias against neogaf so w/e
>>15512054
I personally like the middle two, rightmost the most. You could use them both to maybe accent each other?
>>15511883
Thrudgelmir from SRW.
>>15512121
My only gripe with the left middle one is that it goes on pretty thick even with light coats. If it weren't for that, I'd consider it. The tow on the right both go on fairly evenly and are relatively thin, which is what makes me like them.
I'll sleep on it and give it a good old praying over.
>>15512154
>>15512121
Did this to try to help me decide. I matched as close as I could on Sketch.
>>15512182
I'll honestly probably save the one on the right for if I ever do a halo inspired paint job.
>>15512016
The texture is what causes a matte surface to look the way it does. All those tiny little points and ridges cause any light hitting the object to bounce off in all kinds of different directions, creating a dull look. A smooth surfact means the light bounces off more uniforml, creating glints and glares.
So just to be clear: you DON'T need thinners fro spray can paints, right? What are some of the best brands of these?
Was planning on doing finally doing a minor paintjob kit before heading off to collegeyes i'm 18
>>15512200
Good luck in college, friendo. Don't do anything too stupid, as they say
As for paint in spray cans, I don't know how you would even go about thinning that in the first place. Just be really careful and do several light coats. I think straight spray cans are far more prone to giving a clumpy paintjob if you aren't careful
>>15512200
Warm spray cans by letting them sit in warm water for a little bit, this will create a finer mist spray.

Thanks for the advice on both counts, anon.
As for the spray paint, I figured that out the hard way that you need to be extra careful when I topcoated my Ground Type GM.
That poor, poor thing.
>>15512224
Thanks for the tip m8.
So I decided upon a color scheme. Anyone know if the Krylon Grey primer will let me achieve a color scheme similar to pic related? I'm also a little bit afraid of that the alligator clip sticks they sell on amazon might break the smaller pieces. (I'm doing this on a 1/144 model)
Thanks in advance, and sorry to be a bother.

My highest recommendation is that you dont use spray cans. It always looks sub-par. Either buy an airbrush kit online or learn how to hand paint.

You can do it either way.
Does not matter.

>>15512863
They are okay oob although they are lacking in hips and thighs due to their release timing. Otherwise if you can paint even a little they are fantastic with lots of detail around exposed frame areas. For their time they were amazing.
I think I'm going to forego the tan altogether and do just green and brown.
The left is my favorite thus far.
Yeah I can see an MG GSelf for the upcoming movies.
Where's Derringer when we need him?
What do you guys do to avoid dust/pet hair/other particles from getting on your kits. I've tried storing them in a separate room, keeping them in bags, vacuuming my build area constantly, yet somehow cat hair always manages to get on the pieces I'm painting either right before or as my paint is drying. Any tips/strats?
I'm considering electronics dusters or perhaps using my full size compressor to prep pieces right before painting.
>>15512929
Get a cheap-ass lint roller and roll yourself down before going near your kits. You seem to be the common factor in this scenario.
>>15512929
Maybe a lens brush. They're really f8ne and soft, so they won't scratch up your pieces.

>>15513085
P bandai has slowly been opening up to the US. They had high res barbatos form 6 in US hobbyshops due to derringer fighting to get p bandai stuff in after negotiating for star wars.
And the people who make the collectors figures like metal build and RD are a seperate division from the people who make the gunpla. So its seperate licenses being negotiated with different people. The gunpla people are a lot more uptight and strict on the exclusiveness of P bandai than the figure guys are.

I made some of the changes you guys suggested last time, though I decided to keep the safety nubs on the V since it didn't bother me as much, and the box has them on anyway.
One thing bothers me - why aren't the yellow guns for the head included in the kit but shown on all pictures of the model? Am I supposed to paint them on or what?
>>15513272
I'm planning on painting the EZ8 head piece with the same tone of green in the eyes and headpiece and use that with the model. I'm trying to mix and match with a bunch of stuff that looks visually pleasing

>>15513302
Okay, thanks. I don't know why they prettied that up on the photograph but left the safety fins up.
>>15513204
The way I see it, outside of maybe France and Italy, anime, especially sci-fi, isn't as big anywhere on the continent as it is in the US. I highly doubt bringing P-Bandai to Europe would be worth it for any execs.
>>15513294
>Am I supposed to paint them on or what?
Yes. The box art pics are usually of a fully painted model.
If the Shiden had a better rifle design like that of the grazes it would be a top tier design.
Not exactly a kitbash but I slapped the 2 extra artillery canons you get with the hg ball onto this and I think it looks good with it
>>15513303
The figures in the manuals and on the box are painted professionally, IIRC by Master Kawaguchi himself.
I never realized how tall the Lightning Zeta was.
Also, are the hands supposed to be held in by pure friction? It just falls out.
>>15511052
still nothing about this?
>>15513305
I was mainly thinking of the star wars kits actually. Most model shops have a whole bunch of star wars kits. But I guess it's a different beast, no matter what the truth about the rights, revell, disney and these kits are.
Ebay works for the star wars kits anyway, but still.
Hey all, just found this board and read through the wonderful resources available (namely the guide). And within said guide, I saw a line that said not to get MG kits with any sort of chrome plating. Lo and behold, the last kit I snap fitted was a plated Unicorn. So my question is how would I go about stripping the plating from this kit so I can paint it proper?
>>15513422
Do you like how it looks with the plating ?
If yes then you have no reason to do that.
>>15513422
It's not that the plating itself is bad, it's that because the kits are plated when you cut them off the runners it leaves horrible nub marks behind that are void of plating, and sanding can make the finish worse instead of better.
Look on that Unicorn's left wrist beam saber mount to see what I mean.
>>15513430
I mean, it looks nice, but there are pretty visible gaps in the plating due to how I removed the nubs.
>>15513435
Exactly what I mean. It's unsightly. And honestly, the only reason I got this kit is because it had two colors for the psychoframe and I didn't like the original red
>>15513407
Most stores only have Revell star wars kits I find, not the Bandai ones
>>15513466
That was my point.
WHERE'S DERRINGER?
>>15513477
Sleeping? Its fucking 4am in moonland
Universal Unit Gundam Barbatos Lupus complete. I'm certainly not the best, or even that good, at handbrushing, but I think it looks pretty good when not inspected too well. I messed up early on by not realizing there's tons of flash and junk on the "pre-built" parts of the kit until it was late in the game. Definitely a better appreciation for people who work on tiny scales.
>>15513505

>>15513534

>>15513534
If you're painting, be aware that the treads take some serious commitment to fix
I've heard grey Krylon primer can melt away at plastics. Is this true?
Also, are primers sufficient alone if I just want to paint something gray and white?
>>15513572
I feel like the Tamiya fine primer in a can looks basically as good as a normal paint layer and it comes in grey and white, same for the citadel chaos black primer and they have a white one too I think. No idea about Krylon.
When using citadel paints on models, do you need to prime the model if you are just painting small details like eyes or head cameras?
>>15513537
I used alcohol on everything and it got all the dust off and got rid of any oils.
>>15513572
The krylon paint seems to be okay so far, but I've heard the primer is kind of jank. I'd stick with tamiya or another brand known for model work for a primer.
This is a really shitty picture of the tamiya fine grey after one light coat. It's all I had on hand.

>>15513873
My current thoughts are that you are a far better sketcher than I am
I'm assuming you have some idea of what kits you want to put together to achieve that look?
>>15513879
Thank you! That means a lot to me.
I'm gonna use the HGUC Stark Jegan as a base but I wanna heavily modify it, possibly even sculpting some of it by hand. The one on the right is undoubtedly Heavyarmsit better be
>>15514284
I dont know why but feel a zaku tank vibe off the second one.
>>15514820
>want it
>8k Yen before shipping
Fuck man, this is bite the pillow tier.
>>15514820
>2 New 00 MGs for its anniversary
>They're just modified re-releases of previous kits
Why. Why does Bandai hate 00?
>>15514858
I'm getting Tallgeese vibes with how short it is and that gun or whatever it is on it's arm.
>>15514878
>2 new RGs for the anniversary
>both modified re-releases
>PG is just the same but has the Trans-Am coloring.
We got trolled with Harute and G-Self MGs?
fuck...
>>15514946
That or Bandai isn't blowing their load all on the first day.
Not surprised by them molding the psycho frame onto the B runner itself. Looking at this, it might not actually be a piece of shit after all. The 4000 yen price tag is pretty steep though.
>>15514957
>That color separation
Crazy heavy on the panel lines, but holy fuck this thing looks amazing.
>>15514946
You trolled yourself, anon. Nobody said they were gonna be at this show.
>>15514977
It was never specifically said that the hints were about kits, anyway.
>>15514977
so Shun from neogaf is unreliable prick
>>15514977
>nobody said they were gonna be at this show
That's the biggest fucking cop out. At that point no matter what they say, they can just keep pulling out "must have been delayed" until eventually they say it was canceled while it was in development after people start calling bullshit.
>>15514946
Did I miss something? Were there actually rumors of such a thing?
Any hearsay about a Zabanya MG? Or Raphael?
I'm actually painting now, and I wanted an opinion. Instead of painting the Red pieces from the GM sniper black, would they look okay in primer grey?
>>15515060
Trolling?
>>15515062
No, I just like the grey color of the primer, and I didn't know if I'd like the black.
>>15514191
>They gave it Burger King tiny hands
>>15511628
>Reborn
I bet it's just that new Build Fighters variant they teased the silhouette of.
MG Harute would be an absolute blessing. Give me hope for a Zabanya too.
Got all the torso parts painted.
Now, should I assemble then gloss, or gloss then assemble?
>>15515253
mate you used matte paint already, you needed to do more research on this shit BEFORE you started not after
>>15515257
Gloss to seal the paint in, no? Then I can decal and matte coat over that.
>>15513873
you should darken your lines some more
I can barely see the damn thing even when I look close and squint really hard, which is a shame because it looks like a great sketch
>>15515272
you've already used matte paint
so trying to cover that with gloss isn't going to turn it back to gloss, because the "bumps" of the matte paint are already under there
do you have decals or just stickers?
>>15515272
Gloss coat it to seal and protect the paint. Then panel line and decal. Then final topcoat of your choice.
>>15513992
Pretty good for first time attempts
What'd you use for the shield on yours?
>>15515288
I'm not trying to make it gloss, I'm just sealing it in so the paint won't chip or scratch.
I have both.
I planned on a final matte coat or a semi gloss if it remains flat looking after the gloss.
Or I'll horribly fuck up my paint job and Learn from it.
>>15515289
Noted. This has been a learning experience.
>>15515321
if you're just trying to protect it any clear you want will be ok
but if you are doing things like panel lining and decals, using matte paints is a bad idea, you want to use glosses all the way so the paint always lies extremely flat, then make it matte at the very end if that's the look you want.
>>15512679
Jesus Murphy, this looks fucking stupid.
It's so busy, gimmicky, and all-around unappealing. It looks like the edgy, teenage son of Virsago and Epyon with an oral fixation for beam sabers.
>>15515326
Ah well. At least I learned something if this turns out less than ideal. Thanks, hombre.
>>15514295
Hlj says its local type meant for north American front
>Finally a GM
>It's fucking ugly
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
A-at least this means we might get a regular GM soon, right? Right..?
>>15515338
no problem, there's always more shit to learn and you often only learn it by trying
posting anything you plan to use can help though, for example when you posted the krylon can you used, it mentioned that it had a non-glossy finish or whatever. If you post that first it would tip people who know stuff off and help warn you.
>>15515344
Word. I think someone either here or on you may have said it was g2g and I just went with it. I'll be more thorough next time. At least the colors came out pretty good.
>>15515298
Only the Zaku I colors guy was a first timer. The rest of us are veterans. The problems came from the one day time limit we gave ourselves, as a challenge.
My shield is the side skirt from Denial Gundam.
In honor of new GM-focused BF, post your jims
You DO have a GM don't you?
>>15515360
i-i have two in the post, i swear!
>>15515360
of course!
>>15515360
I got a GMIII and a Daughtress Custom in my backlog, if those count.
>>15515343
>It's fucking ugly
That's some shit taste right there
>>15515360
I got some Jims. I also have an MG GM II and a MG GM Sniper II in my backlog.

Words cannot express my pity and sympathy for the horror you are about to discover anon.
>>15515422
Describe it with interpretive dance, gifs or webms.
>>15515360
Reporting for duty sir!
>>15515360
Calling in.
Have a GM Striker but I used the arms for a kit bash.
>>15515428
Okay.Seriously though, the kit is horrendous, the worst kit I have ever built, and I've built cheap ass military models from the 60s.
So is that it from the show?
Can I go to sleep now?
>>15515422
Oh I know, I've taken a look at that corpse of a kit before putting it back on my shelf for reconstructive surgery and reanimation at a later date.
>>15515450
Accurate.
>>15515360
JIms are good,
>>15515360
Did this guy a while ago.
Did they announce any new star wars kits?
>>15515501
Grievous
>>15515515
So old news.
I'm disappointed, why no new (non P-Bandai) MG:s?
>>15515360
>All these Jimbros
My niggas. Sometimes gpg is alright.
>>15515520
Unicorn took most of the R&D
From the Twilight Axis character design files
Wonder if we're finally going to get a modern kit to go with it
>>15515527
If fucking only dude
GM cover or Unicorn
>get up early before work to check news and where my airbrushing package is
>shizuoka makes me disappointed
>airbrush package is 30 min away by car
At least there's some good news.

GM. His time has come.
>>15515527
If we're actually given an R-Jarja kit, then Twilight of Axis will have actually served a purpose beyond its shitty Tristan and ancient Zaku III highlights.
>>15515360
My first painted kit. Still liking the older, bulkier look over these newer ones im seeing.
>>15515540
The thread has spoken. Jim's time is now.
>>15515571
The new GM's are for build fighters
they are not new canon GM or something
>>15515523
Yeah, but not even a poster or teaser or nothing is lame.
Also there will apparently be a new Blue Destiny. Will someone make a Nub Destiny Ver. Ka?

>>15515353
Oh, well that's pretty good for a rushed one day job.
I like your instagram gunpla, especially the punchy one
< photoshop mock-up, just in case people might get confused.
how hard/easy would it be to slap on existing gunpla parts onto IBO plamo? what would be the easiest non-IBO models to use?
>>15515360
here's my jim
