They use the world tournament as the testing ground for their products instead of fair fights.
That is the reason for Tetsuya splitting up with old partners, and have setup a completely separate battle categories for students and kids to participate into.

Boris Schauer, the Char no one ever thinks about. He's kind of a proto Meijin character. "Gunpla Meister" was what he was called in show. You can tell 00 was still in the air. I kinda miss gundam meister as a title.
