As for the subject of Gurren Lagann.... I wouldn't say it's the best but it's definitely my favorite. I know there are a lot of flaws, but I don't really hate anything and it's the show that has made me smile the most, which is really all you need.

OBJECTIVELY, though, the best Super Robot series is probably the Getter Robo manga, due to the fact that it stands out as an engaging, developing story in its own right and has influenced many Super Robot series. Since it was the first combining mecha, too many to count, as a matter of fact!
