It was entertaining, but I'm never going to say im happy about. I just don't like aliens in gundam. Gundam should be mostly about human conflict.

Me too. I would've liked a bit more with the characters but overall I can't complain: story made sense, themes were wrapped up beautifully and Setsuna finally became Gundam.

Well Gundam 00 was mostly about human conflict. Even in the movie a lot of the conflict was because humans wouldn't or couldn't try to understand aliens, with the aliens only providing martial conflict.

Yea, I don't think all the people screaming as they (or at least their units) were assimilated and then nothing ever being heard from them again really qualify as alive. Like, if they were alive after assimilation they'd be assimilated in to the ELS and the ELS would actually know that what they're doing is not the best method straight away. It's only if assimilation by such a direct method causes death for organics and the ELS never get their knowledge that the movie works. As much as it does work anyways, whatever that is in your opinion.

They didn't have much leeway, if the ELS were more humanoid it would be too ridiculous and hackneyed, but if they looked like slimy rape xenomorphs or literally The Thing, audiences would be too horrified and repulsed to buy the whole coexistence angle that the movie tried to sell.

I think the movie was okay, although I liked it.

It is also thematically in line with what the series and most of the rest of the franchise presents, as much as /m/ likes to riff on "UNDERSTANDING".

The only thing i like less than newtype space magic. Say what you will about IBO but it was nice to see a main cast of caracters just straight up slaughter anyone standing in their way without remorse. The only thing they needed to "understand" was that everybody was trying to kill each other

The talk about dialogues to come was throwing people off even early in season 1 because Aeolia is indicating in his speech it was with a separate party. Also "to come" implicating that another group or party entity that wasn't already "there" yet.

Plus like the other said it was also just outright indicated at the end of season 2 with the shot on Jupiter.
