ONCE THE MAUS IS MASS PRODUCED BRITAIN WONT KNOW WHAT HIT THEM
Was it even actually effective though? Like at all?
>>15471634
It was never built because real life isn't anime
>>15471644
Two were built you fuckfence.
>>15471649
>>15471644
One with a real turret, one with a weight maquette.
Both weren't involved into any fight.
>>15471634
No.
As in... no, not at all.
Aside from the prototype never enter service, these tanks were just for show.
To slow to move anywhere in their own, to heavy for any road and armament that was better off in smaller chassis.
Whey wouldn't have been useful either:
They could be disabled by Molotov cocktails starving the engine of air - good luck hand crank that 60 ton turret.
Artillery to the frontal turret could damage the gun barrels, rendering it ineffective.
Bombs from CAS would also be a danger since it had the size of a train.
Or it just combusted on it's own, because it's German.
>>15471634
The armor and guns would've been legitimately great against tanks of the time, unless it got flanked and shot in the side by IS-2s it would've been damn near impossible to destroy...
As long as none of the allies figure out that a section of armor on top of the hull just under the gun mantlet is extremely thin because the designers never thought it'd get hit by anything, and as such it's probably possible, if hard, to ricochet a bunch of .50 cal bullets through it and detonate ammunition/fuel tanks near that area.
We don't know how reliable the maus would've been in service, but I expect it'd break down every five miles, and it'd be slow as shit, so it'd need railway transport to get anywhere at a viable speed, if it was even light enough to be transported by normal trains.
>>15471726
>The armor and guns would've been legitimately great against tanks of the time
LB-1, D-10, D-25-T cannons should be dangerous enough for Maus, as well as BS-3 field cannon.
> it would've been damn near impossible to destroy...
PTAB-2,5-1,5 bombs can penetrate the top armor. They're dropped in packs.
>>15471629
Shouldn't the Big Zam equivalent be the Schwerer Gustav?
>>15471784
No, Dora-kind cannons are more like Jormungand from IGLOO
And HDP cannon is Solar Ray.
DO IT AGAIN, BOMBER HARRIS.
>>15471767
>LB-1, D-10, D-25-T cannons should be dangerous enough for Maus, as well as BS-3 field cannon.
Got any reliable sources for the armor penetration of those guns?
From a quick search of the oh-so-reliable source of Wikipedia only one of them seems to pierce more than 200mm of armor, and as far as I know the Maus has 200mm of armor on all sides of the turret and the front of the hull, but sure if that value is taking the sloping into account, the sides and rear of the hull could definately be penned by cannons of the time though.
>PTAB-2,5-1,5 bombs can penetrate the top armor. They're dropped in packs.
Pls do not bring bombs into this they can destroy anything why can't we just talk about tanks and stuff I'm sure the maus could be protected by a wirbelwind
The allies proved that cheap, easy to manufacture, easy to service and maintain, and easy to train crews on Tanks were the real war winners.
for every one Maus they built, they could've built several Panzer IVs and Stug IIIs, which would have had a lot more impact than 1 single super heavy unit.
>>15471629
Why use mauses when Aquarion Logos just erases them?
>>15472039
They also proved that no matter how much tanks someone have, if said person dont have fucking air supremacy, they are fucked.
WW2 was kino
>>15471634
A little bit.
Fuck your Maus
>>15472071
Nigga thats a horse drawn carriage
Also aircraft killed less than 10% of all tanks in the Western Front
The Porsche Tiger is kind of a piece of shit but fuck me if that wasn't one hell of a stand
>>15472120
One of the few times where the sequel was better than the original
>>15472936
They recycled way too much plot points though.
>>15472936
Eh I feel like the ending bombed the whole thing
>>15472936
At least there's action scenes in the first two.
Third one was total blue balls
>>15472971
yeah it left a lot of fans cold
>>15472971
I liked the dramatic approach to the third one
It did lacked some action and had way too many plot points
>>15472964
Yeah they kinda just gave up and rushed the ending
>>15471634
I heard something like it was so heavy it sank into the street when they tried to deploy it outside of the lab.
>>15472971
I think the sheer tension in the third one sold it for me. Like, a single wrong move by any of the characters would make the second series look tame, and making sure they don't cross that line while still fucking over the other side was pretty damned intense.

>>15472884
Thats the joke, you mong.
Has anyone ever made a manga or something where it's just WWII except they have mechas and Hitler personally pilots an edgy black suit into battle? It seems obvious
>>15472884
>Nigga thats a horse drawn carriage
Thats the joke, lad. I just love that everytime this webm is posted, someone needs to point the obvious.
And as much as what you said is true, about how much german armor the allied air force destroyed, the fact that allied air force were flying around almost untouched have taken away panzers groups mobility. They couldn't simply move from place to place without the danger of getting shot and bombed by planes, and that by itself already took away great part of their efficiency.
>when you love tanks but hate hate hate moe
I'll never watch that fucking show. Tell me, is it accurate to anything, historically?
>>15473642
It has some accuracy, history jokes, and it's clear they did their research but it also takes lots of breaks from mostly realistic tanks to do various crazy over the top stunts, because that stuff is just fun.
You may hate typical moe, but it's impossible to hate the fluffy little autistic child that is Yukari.
>>15473642
Have you considered not being a bitch? No seriously what's this "Huurr I hate moe" shit. Who are you trying to impress? Who are you trying to look cool for? Do you just look at a show and only see the most superficial aspects? Are you unable to actual judge something on it's merits instead of some retarded stereotype?
Quit being shallow and watch something if you think it looks interesting or has aspects you think you'd like to see. You're only hurting yourself in the long run.
>>15471866
>Got any reliable sources for the armor penetration of those guns?
Some russian military history books, according to which the first 100mm round to penetrate front armor of Maus came out in 1953 - the BR-412D APCBC, which was suitable for all soviet 100 mm cannons.
If we suppose that germans would manage to mass-produce Maus (even though it's the unreliable and huge piece of steel), soviets could come up with the same round earlier.

>>15473697
You have to admit that the budget increase really shined. And I liked that America actually did more fighting in the ground-war this time, even though they still came in pretty late. Still, while I liked how they showed off their talent with that atom bomb finale I don't think it compares to the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" end of the original.
>>15473704
I liked that the Russians were an actual character in this one
They looked promising in the first one but the author just written them out of the story by giving them some shitty mini arc
>>15473689
>russian military history books
I asked for reliable sources, not commie propaganda.
>>15473709
Fuck, the eastern front was GOAT. I don't think any conventional war could top it, which is probably why the author started focusing more on proxy wars and asymmetric warfare in future arcs.

I'm not trying to look cool otherwise I'd be using a trip, duh. I'm legit just asking if it's a shallow show or if there's actual Military nerd substance going on. But nah you gotta get your panties in a twist about it don't you?
Hilarious that someone that advocates for trendy normie shlock (because that's exactly what moe is in japan) dares to use the word shallow. You should apologize to the English language and the god of irony
And yeah, I recognize that mecha was once the Trend too, and I give no fucks anyway. Get over it
>>15473872
>I'm legit just asking if it's a shallow show or if there's actual Military nerd substance going on.
Yes, it does have military nerd substance. It range from "Kelly Heroes", and Monty Python, references, to characters comparing two other characters with Michael Wittmann and Joe Ekins. There are many jokes with military history, which is helped by the series characters; the loader girl in the Panzer IV is a tank nerd, the crew manning the Stug III are crazy history buffs, and there is also the rival school teams that are WW2 nation thematic. The tank battles start somehow grounded and conventional, but gradually become more and more over the top, with Initial D like stunts at the series final battle, and the laws of physics brutally murdered in the movie. Don't constitutes a real problem, though, as it provides some really enjoyable, even if impossible, battles.
There is also almost none questionable fanservice with those little girls, thanks God, aside from some scenes where the girls are relaxing in a thermal font.
You need to imagine this series simply as a sport anime with tanks; the underdog team, formed by a heterogeneous cast, need to defeat the bigger and stronger teams. They will all play fairly and squarely, and in the end of the match the teams will shake hands, leaving with mutual respect and newfound friendships.I also generally cannot support moe series, they are not of my interest, but ended checking GuP for my love of WW2 tanks.I ended pleased with it, it was a worth and fun experiency.

Technically. Only fanservice is a couple scenes with bathing suits. Compared to most animoo it's quite chaste.
>>15472936
Fuck off, season one was actually deep, meaningful with good mechanical designs and a clear,well-delivered message that didn`t feel preachy. The second one was just forced, boring and tried to appeal to the very few people who watched season one solely for the fucking tanks, which were supposed to be a one-off gimmick, not the defining face of the series.

>8.1 MPH top speed on hard surfaces
>what is fuel efficiency
You know, the B-1 bis was nearly unstoppable in direct confrontations during the battle for France but it sure as shit didn't stop the Wermacht from just driving around them and leaving the suckers for artillery/dive bombers, since it had the stop speed of a fucking toddler.
Also it wouldn't help that the rest of the Wermacht at the end of the war was fighting largely with inferior equipment and training. It doesn't matter how cool that big tanks is when the rest of the front melts around it.
>>15473365
The fact that the AF even got 10% of armor kills is pretty impressive, actually. The Germans got pretty reserved with how they used their armor after the Western allies slapped down the Luftwaffe.

Perhaps because it is mostly tank battles with little animu bullshit IIRC.
